Northern Virginia, for better or worse, was outside the circle of my inquiry. (Charlotte, Nashville, and Atlanta are all closer to my home than Alexandria.) I contacted Bristol, Roanoke, Charlottesville, Richmond area and dealers in between, since I travel to all those places from time to time.

I got an offer of 18,999 before rebates on a black gls 4cyl w/sunroof. What do you think? I am in central california. It is my first car buying experience so i thought i could use a little help. I will get an additional $500 off (4cyl rebate) and the $1000 Hyundai finance rebate so total before taxes is 17499. Thanks!

Candra:

Yes this is a great offer! I figure invoice 17,896 sunroof 784 and delivery 600 fot a total of 19,280 and you are paying less. Don't let them add on a BS admin fee (or BS advertising fee) for 500 or so, if they do make sure they come down on the price that much more.

I have a 4cyl and love it. I wish I got the sunroof like you are doing and I paid about 300 more than you (not counting in the sun roof). I would jump on that price!!

Don't forget to tell them to activate the automatic door locking mechanism before you drive off the lot and don't let them charge you for it.

The Dealership: Hyundai's Achilles Heel by halflab

I just wanted to vent about my bad experiences at two dealerships, one in Manhattan and the other in Brooklyn, NY.
Is there a dedicated board to do this?
If there isn't then that's ok as I'm creating a complaint website to honor their inattentiveness, dishonesty and illegal business practices.
This is probably why I may never buy a Hyundai nor recommend the brand.

Have yo previously bought a new car from a NYC dealer? I'm 60 miles away in CT and the reputation of NYC dealers in general is poor here.

Do those dealer you visited sell other brands? If so, they are probably as bad as you describe in selling those cars also.

This was my first purchase, but a friend came along because he knows the ins and outs of negotiating. He's very expereinced at this sort of thing. As a matter of fact, the floor manager was suprised that he knew so much.

One dealer sells Toyota and Infiniti, but the sales team and floor managers are completely different.

Yeah... we used to have a forum for "dealership rants", but that sort of went by the wayside.. Since you were shopping for a Sonata, why don't you tell us what happened?

(leaving out any individual names or profanities, of course... )
