If it was the battery the car would not start. If the battery is low enough to cause the dash to malfunction the headlight should be dim. When the car is running the alternator is powering everything and charging the battery. Does the car run okay otherwise?. If it does than it may be a bad connection in the instrument cluster.

Mine is a 2007 Sonata, I am having the same trouble with my headlights. Both high beam lights work good but both of my low beam lights have gone out. And, the inside dashlights are out too in the day time but come on when I go into my parking garage at my office building. Wierd. I hate to have to take it to the dealership, I already have 40,000 miles on it. Did you get any response as to why?

I am confused. If you turn the lights to the manual setting (Alway on) do the lights work normally? Could both low beams be burned out? The relay for the high/low beams be be bad.

Most likely both of your headlamp bulbs have burned out on the low beam filament but both high beams still work OK. How, you ask, would this happen? Well, I can't tell you how many cars I see with one headlamp out. People do not notice, (or care as long as there is SOME light) or replace the bulb if they do "sorta care" then sooner or later the second bulb goes out and finally only high beams still function. As far as your dash lights coming on in your (dark) parking structure...simply the autolamp feature turning on your headlights (and simultaneously your parking and dash lights) when the sensor detects DARK conditions for a pre-determined length of time. Absolutely positively normal and this is working as designed. Probably replacing both headlamp bulb capsules will restore full lighting. If not, then a trip to the dealer would be warranted.

I bought a used 1997 Sonata. The ECU went bad so I got another one. I replaced it and that one smoked at the same place on the circuit board. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas or where I can get a wiring schematic that shows what each pin on the ECU is for and what voltage it is supposed to have.

There is an online Manual that may help.

You will need to register to access the content there. Also, you need to use IE to access the site. Good luck.
