My 2001 Sonata GLS didn't pass the emission test. The test result says that O2 sensor and Catalyst are "Not Ready." I took it to a dealershop, and they replaced the parts and fixed it. They cleared the codes but still they are not ready. The mechanics at a dealershop keep saying that they've fixed all the problems and that there is nothing I can do but running... So I ran. I ran more than 600 miles and went back to the dealershop every morning in vain.   Recently, I found the "drive cycle" and one man from California did drive exactly as was instructed by the drive cycle manual. I believe that it'll be somewhat dangerous to drive that way. So, I'm thinking about "driving" my car with the front wheels lifted up. Then I can "run" without moving my car. Will this idea work? Replying to: kjlee (Apr 01, 2009 4:55 pm) If the dealer says they have fixed all the problems, have them smog it. If it doesn't pass tell them they obviously haven't fixed it.   I don't see how driving your car for a considerable distance after a repair is going to change the smog readings much, but maybe I'm missing something.   Guys???

Just got a used 2008 Sonata. Love the car but XM radio always displays 'Loading'. Is there a reset procedure or is this something the dealer has to fix? Has anyone encountered this before? If so, what was the solution?   Thanks in advance for any help. I should be able to display xm channel 0 to get the radio ID in order to subscribe to xm service, but the only response I get is the Loading message. No other controls have any effect. I did run across a TSB concerning set top boxes that were damaged by water leaks in the trunk. I'll have the dealer check it out (still under warrantee) and will post the results. thanks for the feedback.

I have an 08 Sonata with 8800 miles that has started making a ticking sound only when accelerating. The noise tends to stop after driving for a while. Any ideas what could be causing this? I haven't gone back to the dealer yet. The dealer recently replaced the "short block" with a rebuilt engine from Hyundai after the oil pump failed.

I just bought a 2000 Sonota, the tranny doesn't shift right from 1st to 2nd. The person I bought it from recommends flushing the tranny and putting in the new filter he gave me with the car. I need info on "how to" flush a tranny.
