| I have a 2006 Sonata and when I started it up it made a horrible squealing noise so I shut it down and lifted the hood to find the crank pulley had separated itself. It must have been pressed together and for some reason it became separated. Part of it is still attached to the crankshaft and the ribbed part is just laying there. Has anyone else had this problem. I have 68000 miles on the car. Do they have to pull the engine to replace the crank pulley?? Thanks.... | |

| When driving my sonata sometimes it will starts to slow down and sometimes stops even if I am pressing down on the gas. When I pull over and shut it down, then restart the car it will drive ok for a while. This happens in stop and go traffic and on the hwy when driving below 40-50 mile per hour. The check eng light sometimes come on and off. I am not sure if it needs a tune up or a sensor needs to be replaced. The dealership also doesn't know. Please advise. | |

Replying to: tabfree (Mar 19, 2009 8:55 am) The pulley is on the engine. I would ask why it is not covered? It does not move the car but it is part of the engine assembly. It is not a maintenance item and I assume you did not damage it so I would want to hear why it is not covered. This could be a $200 to $400 question you need to hear an answer. |

My dealership wanted to replace my iridium plugs at 60000 miles with platinum. They also wanted to replace my timing belt. That's right, their computer system flagged the service mgr to say that not replacing a belt that doesn't exist (06's use timing chains) would void my warranty. Shoddy. Are others being pushed by dealers for these worthless items?

Regarding dealer recommended maint., this misleading customers on what is required has been happening for years. My question is: does anyone know how to read check engine codes and how to access them. K Cochran
