Sorry to hear about your tranny problems. I see you found the "Dodge/Plymouth/Chrysler minivan problems" discussion - that's a good place to start.

There are also some lemon links in this post that may help:

'96 Pontiac Transport owner with multiple questions by chirple

I am a new poster. I am the original owner of a '96 Pontiac Transport with all available options. I absolutely LOVE this van. I should say I love the ride, the features, etc.. I have had what I believe is more than my share of problems and came here looking for similar experiences with other owners.

In breifly reviewing the posts in VANS I noted several similar problems with Pontiac Montana's and Transports.

Windsheild wipers and power windows are my biggest and current complaints.

I'm just learning to navigate this board so I'll go back to the Pontiac Transport/Montana posts and try to get in there. However, if anyone sees this and want to direct me, I'll take any help I can get.

I'm the original owner of 93 Villager that was unfortunately rear-ended a couple weeks ago. We weren't going to replace our van for another 6 months, but doesn't make sense to fix at this point. The accident reaffirms my love for the minivan though. If we'd been in an SUV, my 8-year-old and I would be in a world of hurt.

I have posted a message on the minivan shopping discussion and am as overwhelmed with the choices and options as other newcomers are. Looking forward to getting some good advice/information.

Mercury Villager problems by itsgreg

I have a 1993 Mercury Villager with 74,000 miles and am quite happy other than a few weird problems. The "you left your lights on" chime dings every time I open the drivers door- whether the lights are left on or not! Also, the center interior light does not work when the doors are opened, no matter what position the 3-way switch is set. Lastly- my light bar does not light up, and I'm wondering what bulbs are recomended as replacements?

Honda vs Chrysler vs. Toyota by msh106

Hi all! I'm new to Town Hall, but I've been reading a lot of the posts. I currently own a Jeep Grand Cherokee and a 93 Grand Voyager with 100,000 miles. The van is in fairly good shape. I purchased the extended warranty and was covered on all repairs till 2000 when the warranty expired. I had one transmission installed at 80,000, but nothing else serious.

I've been looking at new vans, and I like the Honda and the Chrysler. The seats in the Chrysler felt more comfortable than the Honda when first sitting in them, but I don't like the resale on the Chrysler or it's previous track record for repairs and quality.

I'm curious about the 2003 Sienna, which I hear will be " full size ". Is here any information on the web on this van yet? Has their sludging problem been fixed or addressed?

Thanks. And thanks for all of the informative information in the posts.

Here's a recent post about '03 Sienna rumors:

The Engine Sludge debate continues, but there's scant evidence of any widespread problem with any Toyota engine.

If you search for "Odyssey" or "Chrysler" or "Dodge", you'll see all the Vans topics for these two models, including the comparison topics. Might be easier just to click on Vans in the dropdown box and scan the topics.

Welcome to Town Hall.

Hi, I am here because of a problem with our 2001 Windstar. We traded off our 95 Windstar on the 2001. It seems we have had problems since day 1.
Ford has not fixed the issues we experienced with the 95. This week we took it to the bank and signed it over to them. We don't need more Ford headaches.

I own 2 DC, an 85 model and a 94 model. The 85 has 200,000 miles and still runs great. I have replaced the carb one time. That is all the money I have put in this van. The 94 model has a disturbing habit of making you feel like you are riding over a wash board. The vibration is there also. It never happens when the dealer has it. Is this the transmission? or do I have another problem. Anyone else run across this before.
