I've been lurking here for a couple of months and can't begin to tell you how valuable this site has been! The minivans I've been most interested in are the Ody, the Sienna and the GC/T&C. We currently have a '95 GC, which has been a bit of a lemon. Mr. ahzoo didn't want to consider buying another one, but it appears that they have improved in current years. I haven't signed anything yet, but negotiated this price from a Dodge dealership this afternoon: New Grand Caravan SXT with the following options: sidecurtain airbags, power lift, power adjustable pedals (which I don't care about, so I said I wouldn't pay for), and rear park assist.....$22,299 + TTL. Does this sound like a good deal to anyone else? I really like the Stow & Go seats, since I'm the family handyperson, build a little furniture and have been known to haul home large garage sale "finds." I also have three kids who are going to trash the interior of any vehicle I drive. |

We found an affordable 1998 Dodge Grand Caravan SE that has only seen one owner and seems to run great for 113,000 miles. But with our history of Dodge trouble I think we're going to hang around here in case any problems arise. I don't want to put a damper on your van. But when you buy a 7 year old vehicle with 113,000 miles on it, don't expect it not to have some problems down the road and then bad mouth the vehicle because things wear out during your ownership. I find it funny what people expect from a vehicle. One person wrote a while back that he only got 44,000 miles out of his tires. Another complained his battery went out after just three years. Things wear out people. They're going to wear out even more after 7years. |

Here is my situation: We have 17months old twins and we are expecting our third baby toward the end of the year. We are looking to buy a minivan. However, the second row only has two seats. Are there any minivans that will accomodate 3 car seats on the second row? Or shall we go for SUV with third row seating for rarely visiting in-laws? With SUV the second row will accomodate 3 car seats but the problem will be getting in and out the third row seats(if needed)? Are the minivan any different in this regard? Any suggestions?

Hello, My name is Summer. I am making the really hard decision between a Montana SV6 or a Toyota Sienna XLE. I have just recently test driven the Montana and really loved it but am having some trouble with the lack of security for back seat riders which will be my 12 month son and three year old daughter. I have never considered a minivan up until this point and to tell you the truth the turning point was when I saw the new body style of the SV6 on my friends lot. He had it picked out for me before I even arrived. I always swore I would not drive a minivan or at least until I was much older (29 now) but they are looking really good! Their features are just too handy and family friendly. Since 1998 we have purchased (for me to drive) a Chrysler Sebring (before kids) Lincoln Navigator (before and after kid) Dodge Durango and now our Envoy. This is a big change for me! The decision as to which van to buy is ultimately up to me, since my husband has his own car to drive, so I will need lots of advice! I started my own business in 1999 (before we married) and after marriage moved to the town where my husband's job is located. I now travel 45 miles per day (total, approximately) and need a dependable and safe vehicle, my children travel with me so safety is important. My business is demanding and booming so staying home is no longer and option, in fact, I am now a corporation and my part is vital. Since my children travel with me to work everyday the SV6 posed a concern with the lack of safety features and that is the reason why I then looked into the Sienna. I only need a FWD (rarely drive on snow or ice) and a smooth drive, some of the roads to our acreage are a little bumpy. If you have any advice on these vans please let me know, I would appreciate it!

Wet weather causes faltering due to one or more plugs misfiring intermittently. This would appear to be a problem to be solved with a tube of silicon. Anyone know exactly where the 'Achilles Heel' is located - i.e, where splashing road water may be getting access to the ignition system. I (Paul) am new to the forum, so if this question should be posted elsewhere, please let me know - thanks.
