I just printed out the Edmunds pricing on the 2005 GMC 2500 Savana passenger van. My info. from 3 sources is that GMC will NOT offer this van in 2005? Only the cargo van. Will the real truth please stand up. Looks like they still have the 1500 and 3500. Thanks to all; Josh

Hi Josh, welcome to Town Hall.

Try asking in the Chevy Express/GMC Savana discussion - maybe some other GMC fans have the scoop.

Sold Astro and need something. by sportymonk

Bought a Plymouth Voyager in 84 whent they came out. Sold it at 71,000 after a lot of problems. ($900 in last three months). Got a Chevy Astro and drove it 143,000 miles. Like my Impala (almost got an Accord but the trunk room in an Accord is only 14 cubic feet and my wife's 2000 Malibu is 17 cubic feet.) but my Impala can't fit anything big in truck. I need something bigger. Looking at either Sienna (nahh - too soft ride and pedal controls); or the Pilot (Don't need AWD and poor mileage); or Odyssey (but I don't want anther big vehicle). Outside choice is MAzda 6 wagon but it is too small. Have prowled boards hear and learned a lot.

Welcome!

If the new minivans are too big, take a look at the Mazda MPV. It's a nice size. Or perhaps a Forester?

Maybe a crossover vehicle....

Hi, I'm Ken and a first time owner of a mini van. A 2005 Dodge GC. But did drive my brother's before buying it, so I at least knew how they handled. I was afraid it wouldn't be as quiet as my brother's, because of the stow and go seats, but was happy to see it is.

I have driven professionally for over 40 years and a real lover of cars made back in the 50's and 60's. I really miss some of the features they had back then that they don't have now.

Hey Ken, I've been reading your posts for a couple of weeks now, so you don't seem all that new! My brother also has a Caravan that's a few years old now.

What do you miss from the old cars? Chokes? Metal dashboards? Frequent breakdowns?

Welcome!

Steve, one thing I miss really bad, is the small vent window, where you could direct the air into the car without opening up the big driver's window and blowing air over everyone else in the car. Opening up the big window also cuts gas mileage.

They also use to have vents under the dash that you could open to really get outside air into the car that was pretty close to the temp. of the air outside. It seems like the air coming through the a/c /heater controls now, is always about 20 degrees hotter than the outside air. Both made it easier to be comfortable without turning on the A/C.

Years ago, you could also buy a car or truck with an outside sun visor that was made for your car. It was painted the same color as your car and you didn't see screw holes mounting it on like these cheap things you can put on today.

I also had an old 48 Chrysler,( my first car) with an electronic gas cap. You pushed a button under the dash and your gas cap popped open.

I miss some of the old hood ornaments they had on the old cars that lit up at night. You always could tell what kind of car it was by them.

Welcome aboard Ken.

Amen, I miss the small vent windows also. How about the rain gutters around the windows that kept water from pouring in off the rood if you cracked the window? Now we pay a hundred or more for some cheap plastic add on. I know they took them off to save gas but how important is that when people are buying Hemi engine station wagons for Pete's sake?

Again, welcome aboard.
