When I want to know about a vehicle, the first place I go is the message boards. Solid info from real owners. I am replacing my 97 F150 with something more family friendly and better on gas. A co-worker is selling his 2002 Grand Cherokee Limited for $8,000. 85,000 miles, new front end work, new (rebuilt) engine, excellent condition, well taken care of. I am looking to know if I will be happy with it. Common problems I should look for or expect, safety concerns?

Hello ! I am brand new to this site and need some tips and or suggestions in shopping or selecting an SUV that fits my needs and wants. Here is my background:
I am single with no kids nor pets but hopefully both in the next few years. I am 6ft tall, have body of a football player ie. broad shoulders so comfortable driver seats and leg room are important to me. I also like a decent amount of head room too. I want to stay within $25k to $32k price range if possible. I am focusing on used models in '06 to '08 model years to help me stay in my price range. I am thinking Toyota Sequoia Limited, Chevy Tahoe LT, Infiniti QX56. Maybe fully loaded Toyota 4 Runner but it just looks too small and narrow. I heard good things about the Mazda CZ-9 but I have seen it up close and again it looks too small for me. I want the ride to be pretty quiet on the highway, as agile as can be for for a large SUV, decent acceleration when I step on the gas from stops and for passing on the highway. Cargo space is not real important for me nor is towing abilities. I just need plenty of room for a few friends, groceries, golf clubs, and the ocasional transporting pieces of furniture and luggage for road trips. I don't plan on doing any off roading, 99% of driving will be around the city or on the highway. Engine reliability, interior comfort, and resale value are very important to me. Other than being prudent and test driving the vehicles I mentioned above, any other suggestions or other models you would suggest I look at? Given what my wants and needs are, are the 3 I mentioned above pretty good choices or which of those would you recommend?
#557 of 560 Please help me selecting a SUV

I'm new member to this forum..I'm from Charlotte, North Carolina.
I just started looking for an SUV..need help in selection.
I have a Toyota Camry (which I'm planning to trade in or sell it) and a Honda Civic.
We are a married couple, no children..I need some help to start researching into what are available. I'm looking for Used SUV's, because I get them cheaper than newer ones and New ones deprecate faster in first few years.
Any links or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I think the first question you'll want to answer is what are your needs? To help you focus on this I recommend starting in What's the best vehicle for my needs? Once you've narrowed that down a bit then it will be easier to direct you to particular makes and models.

#560 of 560 Acura MDX Vs. Mercedes Suv 350
Jul 08, 2012 (7:55 am)
I'm torn over the 2012 MDX and Mercedes 2012 SUV 350. I'm not a soccer mom anymore and don't need the 3rd row but drive 25K miles/yr for work. Do you think the smaller interior on the 350 will get make me feel crowded when I have a passenger with me? I love the MDX except the passenger blind spots in right corner and my kids think it's just more of the same. Anyone have experience. with the 2012 Mercedes SUV 350 and can share pro's/cons? Price is not an issue.
