has anyone tried the rear ground mirror from autodynamic.com ??? where else can i buy them ground mirror? i'm really interested because city-parking requires skill and excellent distance judgement. i want to learn how to get out of a 1" space between front/rear bumpers... =) |

You can try creverything.com. There is also a chap out on eBay selling 'rare Japanese' accessories that if you open one of his auction pages it has a link to his home site with this item listed....supposedly less than retail. I noticed that all the pics he has look awfully familiar to autodynamic.com. Beware that autodynamic.com sells a lot of 'OEM-like' products with some of the members over at the CRV-IX (hondasuv.com) being displeased with the lack of quality and customer service. This mirror is kind of a cool novelty item that I have considered - glad to see that someone can actually use the functionality. Good Luck !! |

A couple of years ago, when I was shopping for my CR-V, the high brake lights of this vehicle were a discussion topic that was floating around. Some commented that some drivers may miss them, leading to a rear-end collision. Anyway, I think I've somewhat addressed this by mounting a couple of additional brake lights beneath the rear bumper (in virtually the same lateral axis as the tailpipe). Of course, I realize that I couldn't stop all the stupid drivers out there even if I had the Vegas Strip hanging off my tailgate.  Here is what people behind me will see now when the brakes are applied:  (Hey, I'm the first to post a pic in this discussion too! <GRIN> ) |

Total cost for me was about $35. (The lights by themselves were $15 from Pep Boys.) The bulk of the rest of the cost was spent on mounting hardware (nothing special or custom), wire and tap/slide connectors at Wal-Mart (possibly overpriced, but I didn't feel like driving into Houston to my favorite hobbyist store this week). If you are the type that just happens to have spools of 14 gauge wire lying around and doesn't mind soldering everything together, then you could do it for cheaper than I did. I opted for slide connectors so I could readily undo the wiring if I had to. How much were those nozzles again? The cost of shipping would probably mean I'd save money by locating them locally. It's still possible to have a little fun and still meet the vehicle code.

| did anyone try to put those driving lights in the back? firstly for backing up in the dark, secondly to blind people who don't have enough decency to dim their high beams when coming up behind me. I was thinking of cheapie K-mart, wll--mart brand. how did you mount the lights? | |

Thanks. I may look into a set of those myself. I like the UK-style ones (in bumper mounting), but it's too expensive. This would be a nice way to get simialr function without all the cost. The silly wiper lights were about $20-25, but you can probably get something like them on E-bay for less. I spent another $7 on in-line fuses and a dash switch. Typically, these are installed so that they light up with your head lamps. I didn't want mine on all the time, so I installed the wires through the fire wall and put a switch in the dash (with its own little light). This way I can drive in stealth mode <grin> and sneak up behind those slammed Civics before I zap 'em from behind. My next project is to install one for the rear wiper.

Here they are in action...
They are pretty expensive (total coat was appx.$250.00) and require that you cut the bumper to install them in the original location. However I think that they look great and I love the fact that they are original. Wiring is easy as you can hook them up to the trailer harness located behind the d/s rear speaker.
