Just tell the dealer you want none of it and walk. He will drop it real quick.

The whole package cost the dealer maybe $30 ,I assume the added "alarm" is nothing more than a little horn.

I have to disagree, the items listed probably cost the dealer at least $250. However, you should insist on not having them installed. If the dealer disagrees (says they can't be uninstalled), then request that they reserve the next CR-V that comes in for you, without any modifications. That is what I did with my CR-V.

Ditto that. Just ask that your vehicle not have those items installed. They may try to convince you otherwise, but a firm "no thank you", should be all that is required.

I have no problem with the dealer adding aftermarket items to their inventory, but if they refuse to sell without that stuff, walk away. A dealer who forces stuff like that onto a customer is gouging. If they are willing to resort to those tactics, then I wouldn't trust them with my business. Who knows what else they'll do?

"no" to dealer extras by gary_william

When I bought my '03 EX, I went to several dealers in the Atlanta area. With luck the very first dealer I went to had a young salesman who gave me a written quote for the vehicle with the mud flaps, pin striping, and a few other niceties but failed to charge me for them. I was shopping for a bare-bones off the train vehicle with NO additives or preservatives and nobody in the area could (would) beat the price quoted to me by the one with the written estimate. The squealership did honor the price, even though the salesman made a mistake. Still I am sure that they made a lot of money on the deal, but I got what I wanted. One dealer even tried to strong arm me into taking one that already had been "processed" by aadding about a grand worth of options that I didn't want, saying that they didn't know when they would get another one in since they were so popular. *puh-leeeze*. The other dealers whom I visited while shopping couldn't match the price at first, but they started calling back a week later asking for my business. Sorry guys, be straight the first time through and you will get the deal.

So just say no, walk away from the deal, and find someone who will give you what you want. Remember, you also have something that they want; your business. Without it they will not survive long.

Driving, make that sliding, home yesterday. I'm going down a hill with a 90 left at the bottom. V won't stop. V won't turn. (*&^%!#$&^#($^!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Slid for about 25 feet, then down a small embankment and ended up using tree bark for brake pads. Another $#*&$*)$%$!!!!!!!!!!

It left a small dent in the hood, cracked the mounting bracket on the drivers headlight (not the lens), ruined the AC compressor and the radiator. Inital damage report...$2270. #$*$^*&!!!!!!

I figured the roads were just in really bad shape. Until I went back to the site in my P5 (5 minutes later) to take a second look. My P5 had no problems stopping, steering, accelerating. I had anticipated the going to be much tougher with low profile 16s. Wrong. My conclusion? The tires on the V SUCK in snow. So, I'm counting my blessings, happy my wife and child weren't driving on a busy street when this happened. And, adding new tires to the grand total.

I know there have been MANY opinions posted on tires here. I'll go to Tire Rack and CR to research also but, I was hoping for a summary of opinions. Are car tires just as good as truck tires for our application?

They might call them truck tires, but the only tires you can buy in the stock size are passenger car tires. You can get winter tires (Bridgestone Blizzak for example) or just go with all-season, like whats on there now. But, there are much better tires available in 205/70-15.. If you get up closer to the $80-100 each range, the improvement will be large in every day driving. To get better winter handling, I think you'll need winter tires, though.

Dear icvci, Here is a copy of my post # 11697---Blizzacks are too expensive. For anyone looking for extra traction / snow tires for their V, I recently purchased 4. I strongly recommend the Hankook W401 snows. These were only $50 each SHIPPED TO MY DOOR from tires.com. Don't let the price fool you, these are quality snows with an aggressive yet quite tread pattern. I did the internet research for you and found many great reports on these tires. I easily made it up my 300' extremely steep Northeast driveway with a turn in the middle with 6" of unplowed snow. Well worth the cost, plus mounted on 4 steel wheels I get to tuck the alloys away for the nasty weather. As Mastercard says; CR-V: $23K, Tires and wheels: $300, not getting up off the couch in the winter at 10PM to help my wife get up the driveway; PRICELESS

I have Turanza LS-H 50-series on a '92 Acura Legend... I know this doesn't relate directly to the LS-T, but I love them... no experience in snow yet.
