Thanks, I saw the instructions on H and A and it seem pretty easy. The only thing that worries me is cutting the roof molding. Do I have to be really careful cutting it and does it have to be a perfect cut?
Thanks

Dome light upgrade on a 2002-2006 Honda CRV. by robg2

I the 2002-2006 CRV, when any of the four doors are open only the center dome light comes on. I the Honda Accord from the same year, the dome light and both map lights come on (thus providing more light). Does anyone have any idea how to achieve or how to change the wiring for this to happen in the CRV?

Gee, I'm sorry I gave you wrong information. I forgot that my 2000 CR-V came with a roof rack. I installed the rack on my 2004. The 2004 comes with the side rails already installed and all I had to install was the cross rails to make it functional.
I looked at the instructions for the 1997/2000 and I probably wouldn't have tried it. I'm not much for cutting into the sheet metal although the instructions were pretty good and Honda furnishes good instructions with their parts. I'm sorry I misled you. This old memory is worse than I thought.

Roof Rack Noise by rrbhokies

I just installed the factory roof rack crossbars on my 07 CRV EX-L. Now, at certain times, and at varying speeds, I'm hearing a whistling sound. At first, thought it may have been coming through windshield, but now I believe it's coming from the roof rails. When I open up the sunroof, the whistle goes away, so I believe it is coming from the roof rails and opening the sunroof changes the aerodynamics causing the whistle to go away.

Has anyone else experienced this problem and is there anything that can be done? I honestly only need the rails for when we go on vacation and need to put the roof carrier on, but I'd hate to have to keep taking the rails on/off each time. Plus, the rails look awesome on the dark cherry red CRV!!! I also worry that repeated installing and uninstalling will both strip the bolt heads and cause the rails to be less secure over time.

Thoughts?

If you take off the crossbars does it still make noise?

I am not familiar with the CR-V roof rack, but on other systems, moving the crossbars either forward or backwards can help with the noise.

Hope that helps.

You may want to install the moon roof visor. It may deflect the air flow enough to stop the noise. Just a thought and it's really easy to install.

Hi - I have recently purchased a Honda CRV EX and had a roof rack put on. It whistles at varies speeds as you mentioned. Have you found a solution? The Dealer says they can't fix it, but I'm sure there is a solution.
Thanks,
Charley

I have an 06 cr-v with barely 30,000 and already hear a clicking with tight left turn, this is a 4 wheel drive. I spoke with another owner who says he had same problem and that the grease in rear end has to be replaced. Worse yet, he says you cant't do it yourseld b/c the install plug is above and you can't pour, it has to be pumped. Anyone else having this problem?

It's the rear differential fluid that need to be replaced. Take a look at the thread relating to this. Long story short the manual says to replace the fluid at 60,000 but is really needs to be replaced sooner. Bring it to the dealership and if they try to charge you point out in the manual that it says 60,000. They should change it for free.
