#3250 of 4426 Bad sales experience by bytesnooper

Nov 01, 2009 (8:32 am)

The salesperson was a lying crook and ripped me off. I had
Bought a half dozen new cars before buying the elantra and was to trusting, because
Everyone else stated a price and that what the contract stated.

He said that he would sell me the 2005 Elantra for 11,500.00 and he put on the contract
12,500.00 and Unfortunately I signed the contract because the bottom line didn’t
look out of place. The contacts are intentionally complicated and confusing.
Only discovered it a week later. So I had to eat it. Told everyone off at the dealership
And will never buy another Hyundai again. They changed there name from
Hustedt Hyhundai to Mid_island Hyundai. On long island.

Why don't you write to the Hyundai motor co. and tell them about it. You will probably not get your money back, but at least it will be a black mark against them. The dealers must get a good rating to keep a franchise.

#3252 of 4426 Talk To Owner by sandman_6472

Write a letter to the owner. I was in a similar situation back in 1997 and was charged $900.00 more than the advertised price. Guy at work knew the owner and said to write a letter. I did and within a week I went to pick up the refund check at the dealership. Found out later the wife had read my letter first and she had her husband agree with her to get me the refund. Try it...worked for me. Just state the facts in a nice way and appeal to the owners sense of fair play...they'll most likely do it as a good will gesture.
Good luck and let me know how it works out.

How many miles? What would tax, license and fees be in your area?

It has 37,326 miles. The car is located in Phoenix AZ. Im not sure how much taxes and title would be maybe 1000?

So if you want OTD at $10k, you are looking to buy the car for a little over $9k. KBB value on this car, assuming a GLS automatic, is $11,555 private-party value in Excellent condition, $9,955 in Fair condition, and up to $13,305 retail in Excellent condition, in Phoenix. Is this the car at Camelback Hyundai? It appears to be the lowest priced 2008 Elantra in the area with a moonroof. If you can do w/o a moonroof, the same dealer has a 2008 with only 10k miles for about $9700. That's a lot of warranty left! You might try dealing on that one to see if you can get it OTD for $10k. I think it will be tough to get the one with the moonroof for $10k... but you can always make an offer. How often can you use a moonroof in Phoenix, anyway?

Thanks for the response! Yeah its the one at camelback hyundai. I really want a moonroof, thats the main reason I like that one. I have an 07 accent hatch right now and want to get an automatic 4 door with moonroof now. My old 95 maxima had a moonroof and I loved it, I used it all the time. Its nice to let in a little bit of light, or to crack open in the hot summer to let the heat escape. Right now its cold here so its perfect to have open with the heater on!

#3258 of 4426 2010 Elantra SE by fmoraes

Dec 17, 2009 (3:20 pm)

Hi,

Dealer is asking for 15,500 OTD for 2010 Elantra SE (don't think it had anything other than floor mats), including m 1999 Escort SE (97,000 Miles) for trade.

What do you think of the price? Originally, they asked for a little over 17,000 and I said it was too high.
