Given the popularity and rarity of the 2008 Elantra SE, that may be about as good as you can get at this time. My local dealer hasn't had an SE in stock for months. I think the dealer fee is excessive, though, and if you are close to Fairfax Hyundai then you are close to Fitzmall, which had several Elantra SEs in stock as of a couple of days ago, so you might check there to see if you can get a better deal, or for more negotiating power with the other dealer. Have you tried offering this dealer a lower price, and if they say "no" then walk out (at a leisurely pace, maybe sit in your car for awhile) and see if they follow you? If not, it's worth a try.

If you don't mind a larger car, the Sonata GLS is a lot better value right now than the Elantra SE.

You are right the prices have gone up a couple hundred plus the rebate is only 1,000.00 instead of 2,000.00 as it was in June. I ended up getting the Elantra with A/T and popular equip (no sunroof) for 15,400 OTD at Brad Benson. My first Elantra was 13,500 OTD but that included a trade-in (750.00) which I failed to mention in my earlier message. I still ended up paying more for the car than I did in June but the base price the dealer gave me didn't change, just the lack of a trade in and rebate. I contacted Towne and the best they could do was 16,100.00 OTD for the same car. I also contacted two other dealers, one refused to give me a price unless I came in the other was slightly above Towne.

I'm looking to buy a 08 Elentra tommorow and wanted to know if this is a good price. It's a blue 08 Elentra GLS w/ popular package and floormats for $17,200 OTD. This is without haggling with the dealer yet and it's with Michigan taxes and $180 documentation fee. What do you think would be a fair price to ask for? He's only got the one blue on on the lot so I'm def gonna buy it but want to get the best price.

If you in the NJ area check out Brad Benson. I ended up paying appx. 15,400.00 OTD for the same car less the floor mats. They had several blue Elantra's on the lot when visited.

Well, I guess you didn't contact Suresky in Goshen, NY like I told you to because if you did you would have found out you could get one for $13,992 as they are running full page ads in our local newspaper EVERY day. And they are STILL giving the $2000 rebate. And another $500 on top of that if you already own a Hyundai. A loyalty credit. You prove what you have and Hyundai gives the loyalty credit.

That would have to be a dealer-supported loyalty credit, not Hyundai, since there is no HMA loyalty rebate on the Elantra right now. Also, Suresky must be subsidizing half of the $2000 rebate they are offering, since the HMA rebate is only $1000. Of course, in the long run it doesn't matter as long as the buyer gets the money!

No I did contact them and they are NOT offering a $2,000.00 rebate or loyalty credit. Their OTD price was $16,900.00 after the rebate and dealer discount. Brad Benson beat them by almost $1,500.00, Towne beat them by $800.00.
