Sounds like you got a great deal on the BMW Backy, shoot I'd be happy to find the kind of deal you found on the Sonata.

Just bought an Elantra GLS manual with popular equipment package with A/C and cruise for 16K out the door including tax, title, and license. Purchased through the Sam's club program in Auburn, Alabama. Really easy, no negotiation, price is set at invoice.

Bought the car, now what? by kidroach

So, like I said earlier, it was my first time buying a car and I was pretty glad I didn't get ripped off.

Still, now I'm at a loss. Now, what should I do?

I'm still not familiar with the process of getting the title/registration.

I paid 6375 for the elantra, 7% tax 446.25, and 20 for doc fee. Total price paid is 6841.25.

Now, the dealer told me that they're gonna send something through the mail, or else I can pick it up at their office, they told me. I thought it was the title but after reading through the internet, I didn't think it was the title that they're sending me.

So, what do I do now? Do I go to the insurance company and apply for an insurance coverage? or should I wait til the documents/title come? Or should I go to the bmv and make a title?

I'm in Tippecanoe county, Indiana, if it matters.

Does the car have license plates? If so, those are typically either picked up at the dealership or mailed (by them) to you. You should get the title in the mail in a few weeks, but it could take longer.

You want to get insurance coverage NOW. If you are already covered on a policy, perhaps your parents, then the car would probably be covered automatically for a period of time (for my insurance company and state it's 30 days if I buy a car). But if you have no coverage at all, you need to get it. I'll bet Indiana requires motorists to have at least some basic liability coverage.

I don't know what you mean by additional bumper to bumper coverage. But it sounds good to me. Hubby and I paid $14,000 plus tax, plus Motor Vehicle fees and document processing. Hubby got the same interest rate you did, mine was 2 points higher as by my income I don't work and was buying because my paid off 97 Toyota was bought off me by Toyota to crush and take off the road. So I now have a 5 yr loan but we have about 4 different warranties too. We got all the accesssories you listed too except hubby got the plastic mat for the trunk and then I bought one for $63

For what its worth, call Hyundai and make sure you give your vin# to make sure they replaced the fuel pump. Hubby's was replaced in July when his fuel pump went. I got my recall letter for my fuel pump a week after the dealer replaced mine when I had my first oil change Sept 5, 2008. They looked up my vin# and saw my car was included in the recall. I say this because I had carfax for a few months and I noticed there are some Elantra's being offered for sale and Carfax had recalls on them for the fuel pump, but the dealer had not fixed them yet.

My report showed my recall after the fuel pump was fixed. The dealer beat the letter to my Post Office...LOL

So, just for your own safety DO call Hyundai to make sure your fuel pump was changed if it was involved in the recall. There were 65,000 Elantras involved with the manufacturer date from Nov 2007 - June 2008.

The car has a license plate, but it's a temporary license plate, the one given by the dealer. It's only valid for 30 days though, so what do I do if the title doesn't come in the mail in 30 days? Can I just call the dealer and ask for another license plate? Or do I go to bmv to sort it out?

Also, after I get the title, would I have to do anything else? I've heard of having to go to bmv to get the registration but some others told me that the dealer would mail it. I'm not sure which one is right.

As for the insurance, I was planning to buy it after I get the title, but knowing that I can buy the insurance without the title, I'll buy it soon.

To get insurance you just need the VIN and info on the company where you have the loan, if any.

Sounds like the thing the dealer will call you about and send to you at your reuquest is the REAL license plates. That's what you'll need within 30 days. The title, that can (and probably will) take longer. You don't really need it unless you sell the car.

Thank you very much for helping with fuel pump. I spoke to the sales rep i dealt with. He spoke to his manager and they basically gave me a similar car from new batch.

Earlier car had side moldings. Instead of that i am getting cargo tray.

I got this car from pride hyundai Lynn MAss.

The car comes with 5 year bumper to bumper coverage, I added additional coverage so that i have 10 year 100 thousand coverage.

Thanks again.

Hmmm....interesting here. If I were you I would still call Hyundai up for peace of mind. It doesn't hurt and they will tell you if it was taken care of.

If you get your warranty book out you will see the warranties you have for electrical, paint, rust corrosion and powertrain. The only warranty they offered us at our dealership was to prepay for oil changes cheaper, be able to have a rental for the day if you were having anything done, and window etching and tire replacement for 5 yrs. We didn't take any of them. I am going to call my dealership to find out about this bumper to bumper extended warranty and ask them why we weren't offered it as if this is true what you got I would have paid for it.
