hi guys,

i live in brooklyn, ny. i test-drove the elantra gls with sun & sound package and i'm in love. here's a couple of the deals, please help me decide.

1st dealership (requires financing through dealer but i already have capital one loan in place)

1) otd $17429 - regatta blue / grey interior elantra se with option #3 package
2) otd $16887 - black /grey interior elantra gls with option #4 package (sunroof)

2nd dealership - (same deal with financing as 1st dealership)

1) otd $18278 - white / grey interior elantra se with option #4 (sunroof)
2) otd $16721 - black / biege interior elantra gls with option #4 (sun roof)

3rd dealership (fitzmall) - 4 hour drive away (no, did not go there just called)

1) $16426 (not including nys tags fee) - biege / beige gls with option #4 (sunroof)
2) $15469 (again, nys tag fee excluded) - regatta blue / grey gls no sunroof

Anyone have any feedback on fitzmall, don't mind driving down but would hate to go out of my way and get hoodwinked.

thanks.

Try Towne Hyundai (see their web site & check internet pricing) in Denville, NJ. Towne is much closer to you than Fitzmall.

have already created my otd spreadsheet, they've got some great prices, typically beats fitzmall by $300+, just to be sure nys tag fees are $200, right? but based on their website looks like the inventory is a little light.

I know of 4 deals for CT buyers; the title, tag fees were $200 in each case...I heard they use a service for out of state buyers to handle the paper work (and it includes a temp NJ tag).

Don't go by the inventory listed on their web site. It's not all that up to date. If interested, call them and speak to the internet manager or the sales manager. They are pleasant to deal with and will give you "no BS" answers regarding inventory, price & colors.

I had never dealt with Fitzmall but I had a good gut feeling so I took the subway from VA to MD confident that I was going to come back with my new car. The price on the website was the price I paid - no hassles whatsoever. Now Fitzmall posts 2 internet prices - one is $399 than the other. The "value" internet price includes the extra $399 which covers a loaner car for life as well as other service extras. Since I live in VA, I did not need that since I will be getting my car serviced locally. Once I had my OTD price, I just needed to avoid the extras the finance guy tries to sell (extended warranty, etched security labels, gap insurance, etc.)

just ordered the fighting chance package for this car and it has a very interesting strategy called the fax attack, curious has anyone here ever used it on this forum? if so how'd it work for you?

ps- the guy at one of the dealerships offered me a vip card to use for servicing that gives me free oil changes for 5 years or the life of the car (can't remember which), has anyone ever heard of something like this before or was he bs'ing to get the sale?

thanks again.

Uh, what is the "fighting chance" package?

I've used the fax attack for a minivan I was looking at last year. Did not work well, got only 2 replies (one that was serious, where they followed up) and neither was a very good offer.

I got 3 years of free oil changes + other service discounts thrown in when I bought my '04 Elantra. First they tried to sell it to me for $399. They had other packages too. Several dealers in my area offer free oil changes for life (as long as you own it) on all new cars, or any car for which you have the 60k service done there.

I ordered the package last year and to be honest wasn't impressed with the information that I received. Fax attack method may work as long as you are willing to send it out to a large number of dealerships and realize that you may only get a small number who respond. I'd recommend researching the exact model you are interested in and research what others have paid in this forum as well as researching similiar forums.

It's a service offered by an individual who was involved in the car business for many years. It basically talks about what incentives and rebates are currently offered as well as contain "insider information" on how to negotiate the best deal on a particular vehicle. The fax method is included in the package as well as samples on how to draft the fax but in my opinion the package is not worth the money. Just my two cents worth.

Yeah, got to agree with ya, I wasn't too impressed at first, thought I was getting more, but the reading materials were great because it opened up a lot for me, I wasn't aware of all the under-the-radar deals that go on behind the scenes. if I end up saving at least $40 on my car purchase using this method it was worth it. I live in the ny tri-state area there seem to be a ton of dealerships around me, I guess it's time to find out who's gonna play ball. who know's, end of the month, end of the quarter. It may just pan out. But thanks, that's great advice, I've picked up a lot reading through these posts, didn't know these types of deals existed, good to see others armed and ready when they walk into dealerships.
