Wow, great price for an automatic Limited with Sun & Sound! Could you give us a breakdown on the price you paid, e.g. the MSRP, what rebates you got, how much the taxes & fees were?

Thanks. I did forget to mention that it is automatic, but that should fall under "fully-equipped." Only thing I didn't get is the sun roof wind thingy. Got floormats though!

MSRP: $19745

$16851 Sell price
+ $1549 tax & misc fees
- $1000 manufacturer rebate
- $500 valued owner rebate
- $400 college grad rebate

There's a $500 military rebate too, but too bad no one in my family was in the service.

Elantra SE under $16k OTD? by sharon15

Looking for someone who's been shopping for an Elantra SE in Massachusetts. I did my homework and thought I could get one for under $16k OTD (including tax), but the lowest quote I could get was for a GLS for $15,300 +TT. Salesman didn't seem willing to negotiate. What is the lowest quote to expect for an SE (automatic, AC, power windows/doors)? I'm paying cash and I don't have lots of it. Thanks.

Did you ACTUALLY make the dealer a written offer on a specific car to buy at $16,000 out the door?
If you have not yet done that, do it.
If he says no, then walk out the door, get into your old car and drive to the next Hyundai dealer.
But if he says yes, give him the money and drive your new car home.
Forget about asking for "quotes". You don't need no steeenking "quotes". No one does.

Also, saw a new Elantra in the dark gray color and I think it looks the best on this car. A red stripe would make it look awesome.
If you find the exact car you want, make an OTD offer and see what happens. Tomorrow is the end of the month and they just might want to push another unit out the door.

Check Townehyundai.com. They're in NJ and currently offer any Elantra at $2,000 under invoice ($2500 under invoice if you qualify for owner loyalty). That price is based dealer price $1K under invoice and $1K general rebate plus, if qualified $500 owner loyalty). To this they add $189 doc fee + tax/registration. We bought a Sonata SE XM from them 5 weeks ago. MSRP was $22080. We paid $16651 + $189 + $200 for reg fees (which included a temporary NJ registration [???] + plus 6% CT sales tax on pre-rebate price for an OTD of $18,189. The total rebates on the Sonata at that time were $2500 and they were selling at $1800 below invoice. Our price difference for Sonata SE compared to Elantra Limited was between $1500 & $1600. The Sonata deal is $300 less attractive now than in Feb. But you may want to compare a Sonata GLS to the Elantra SE.

We're near Bridgeport & New Haven CT, if that means anything to you as a reference point. It was about 100 miles to the dealer, one way. Towne Hyundai is about 30 to 45 minutes from the Tappan Zee Bridge.

I just checked Edmund's reported invoice price. Including floor mats, the Elantra SE is $16880 before TTL & doc fee. Take off $2K (or $2500 w/ loyalty) and you'll be very close to that $16K. If necessary, finance $1K for a year. The finance charges won't be very much (although APR may look real high, due to fixed cost built into the loan).

Did you pay a documentation fee? Or the $800 is only tax and TTL?
