You're right. Too many people buy a car with emotion and that makes them vulnerable to be taken advantage of. Buy a car is a business transaction and should be treated as one. If you're not happy with the terms, walk away. Fortunately, there is a lot of competition out there. It must be remembered that the Car Dealers a/k/a Car Stealers do this everyday and car buyers only buy/lease anywhere from 3-6 years. The old adage "You can't beat a man in is own business" applies. Caveat Emptor- BUYER BEWARE!

Limited 2007, Seattle blue w/ black interior, manual tranny, floor mats. 16,100 OTD after rebates.

Sporty, elegant, secure, with lots of acceleration, comfy seats, and QUIET cabin. I had never considered an Elantra before, but I decided to testdrive one after I had narrowed my choices to Honda and Nissan (both I have owned before and liked very much). I got hooked. Smoothest ride I've ever experienced in an economy car, and easily the roomiest.

Elantra was your winner, but what car came in 2nd place in your shopping?

Well, joe131, I had spent three months on the new car quest and decided on a Nissan Sentra, but I wanted both leather interior and manual tranny, which combo isn't available, so then I tried the Elantra just for the heck of it, and I was sold. Then spent another month looking around and comparison shopping until I got the price I wanted. Then the rebates kicked in, so I was lucky in my timing. TTR about 800 and change; delivery 600. 16,100 OTD. Don't know if it's a good deal in objective terms, but it's a great deal for me because I got what I wanted at the price I wanted to pay.

Excellent choice. As is every Hyundai in its market segment.

Gincana,
That was a great deal on the new limited if I might say. Where did you purchase? City, State? If I got a deal like that when I go after the 07' SE I would be very happy indeed. Good job.

The inventory on-line doesn't portray all that they have or are willing to get you, mrcellus, but check out Staunton Auto Group in Staunton, VA. I used the contact person listed on the site (can't name her because of forum rules here), and she found the Seattle Blue/Black combo, which is not easy to find in Limited with manual transmission. Best dealership experience I've had, and worth driving to. They also sell Nissan, which was my original choice before I was won over by the Elantra.

Gincana,
Thanks for that info-When I am ready I will do whatever it takes for a deal like that by all means. It seems like once you knew you wanted it you just lined up all the ducks. I am actually looking forward to the process of owning this auto working through the web and the likes. I also love the Seattle blue/black combo just want a automatic thought.

Standard features. 15000 out of door is realistic?

Thanks.
