Like so many other members of the animal and mechanical kingdoms, the sex of a Rendezvous can be told by its markings. For example, Sedona Bronze Rendezvouses are universally male, and Driftwood Rendezvouses are female. Gamera's whining at a Driftwood he saw yesterday merely confirmed this. Now I realize sexual dymorphism is not always the rule in the mechanical kingdom and like a nest of ants or hive of bees, nearly all ships for example are female (except for the drones). CWJ |

Congrats cw; I believe you are the 1st to pluarlize RDV. Is it correct? I assume so. "Rendezvouses"??? Perhaps Gamera should be Gamero given he's not a she??? Just a thought... |

As described by mfarmer2, I had the same problem with my tilt-mirror. I tried the off-on sequence and the mirror now tilts! Thanks for the solution |

Don't be a stranger and welcome to Rendezvous owning. Don't forget to stop by the 'meet the owners" topic and tell a bit about yourself and/or your ride. CWJ |

I have no idea whether or not the plural is right. I think we've got one or two French Canadian owners. "Habitant" comes to mind. They ought to know the proper plural. Of course, in the Hasidic community the vehicles are collectively know as Rendezvousim. "Gamera" is a Japanese name, so I don't think the latinate endings apply. On the other hand, "Gamera" is by definition a romanization of whatever the original Japanese characters were, so this is all quite confusing. Does that bring Godzilla's sexuality into question as well? (Not that there's anything wrong with that). CWJ P.S. Last off-topic post in this thread on my part, I promise. |

| After our intial testdrive yesterday, we are considering buying the RDV. One of my main concerns is the relative lack of protection from rear end crashes that the third seat passengers have. Anyone seen any safety tests on this? Also, anyone concerned about owning the RDV in snow country due to low clearance? | |
|
Rear crash - I don't know of any tests that have been done for rear passenger safety. I must say that I think all of the SUV's with 3 row seating face the same issue...as well as some regular length minivans. Low ground clearance? - The Buick Rendezvous (7.0), Ford Explorer (6.7), Lexus RX300 (7.7), Acura MDX (8.0), and Dodge Durango (7.9). If I ever wake up to seven inches of snow, I'm staying home to play with my kids! |

I do not have the 3rd row seating, but from what I remember, the 3rd row seating has headrests also. So comparatively to the other SUV, minivans, which may not have the headrest, RDV should be safer from whiplash at least. Also as mentioned by Fedlawman, I am not aware of any testing for the rear passenger other than the regular crash tests which are documented in the other RDV forum. I would think that if minivans and cars do not have as much trouble in snow due to their clearance, there should not be any problem with RDV, but if you have to drive in 6 or more inches of snow, I would consider only SUV which is Hummer. For all the others you might as well as stay home instead of on the road. |

| I'm not sure if my engine thermostat is operating properly. The temperature guage goes to a point between the first line and midpoint (about 1/3 up). I'm wondering if it really should go at least to the midpoint. It takes a while for the engine to warm up and when I put the heater up on a high temp the air doesn't feel really hot. My fuel mileage is less than expected. Could a few of you people please let me know where your guage is at full operating termperature? | |

Does anyone here understand exactly how the seat memory recall is suppose to work? There are two options in the Driver information center where you can set the recall to the seat memory or the exit position. I have my recall on and it's set to the "seat memory" position. Now I was assuming this meant when ever I hit the unlock on my remote it should automatically put the seat into the memory seat position. However, I've noticed it only goes to this position, if the previous position was in the other driver 2 memory position. In other words, if I move my seat back several inches to exit, when I lock/unlock the door, the seat doesn not go back to the seat memory position. It just stays where I left it, several inches back. I've noticed the only time it goes back to the seat memory position with my remote is if the seat was previously in the other driver seat memory position. I'm wondering if something is wrong with my seat recall, or if this is just how it works. One would think that the remote should be set up to recall the seat memory back regardless of who was driving the vehicle prior. What are other people experiencing? Thanks ahead of time. Other than that, the other problem we've experienced with the seat memory is occasionally we hear a popping electrical noise when the seat is moving from the seat memory to the exit position, or vice versa. Dealer still can't figure out what the problem is. They are replacing our radio, because it's losing time, and they thought maybe there's a short in the radio causing this problem. We're being patient with them, since we realize this is a new model. We'll let you know how it goes. How's everyone else doing? Been pretty quiet here lately. Mary |
