We have now put a little over 3,000 trouble free miles on my wife's Liberty Limited. Quite frankly this car's been terrific. It handles significantly better than her '99 Cherokee. Flat in the the corners and excellent, much improved steering feel and response. The cabin space is vastly improved. Fit, finish, and interior material quality are all excellent. The build and material quality feel nearly European. So far, I'm very pleased and impressed. |

| pjd1 what kind of gas mileage are you getting? | |
|
I've been getting 16-18 mixed rural driving... Interstates and hilly rural roads. Air Conditioning has been on all the time. I'm not sure what the mileage penalty is for this. Higher mileage would obviously be nice, but this is a heavy truck. I think the added chassis stiffness and very solid road feel are a worthwhile tradeoff. |

I almost bought the Liberty, but decided on the Suzuki XL-7. One of the factors in my decision is that I had bought a new Grand Cherokee in 94 and it fell apart in just a year and a half. Major problems for a vehicle which was well taken care of. I am not saying all Jeeps are bad. My niece had a 95 Grand Cherokee and loved it and never had a problem. She currently has a BMW X5 and told me she still misses her Jeep. I guess I just would not forgive myself if I got burned twice. Love the XL-7 |

I'll bet your water leak is on the right, front passenger side just below the glove box. If thats the case its a vent or hose for the air conditioner. I'll bet it leaks whenever you turn on the air conditioner or heater. I had this same problem on my Jeep grand cherokee, but the dealer could never figure it out. I ended up fixing it myself even though it was still under warranty. I no longer own a Jeep because they have too many problems and the dealership I dealt with had terrible service. I now drive a BMW X5. I've had it for 7 months now and no problems. Just to let you know if you have ABS brakes, you may have some problems after 50,000 miles. That's just when the warranty expires on your car. I've had to Jeep Grand Cherokees and that was more than enough. |

| I have been experiencing "kick down" problems with my Ltd4x4 - when going up an incline no matter how slight it does not kick down into a higher gear. Switching out of OD does not seem to make any difference. Is this the problem you are talking about? Has anyone else noticed this? Also, does anyone else mind that OD resets itself whenever you turn off the car? | |
|
Haven't noticed it yet, will try and hit some larger hills. As for the OD resetting itself, I'm already used to my Taurus doing the same thing, so it's not a big deal. Only really turn it off when hitting some of these back country roads that are really winding, truck full and the A/C on. I'd rather it turn off because most of my 9-5 M-F commuting is highway. -mad |
