Topsail33, if you do any work on your truck yourself, I would buy the mechanic book on your truck. You can
pick this up at your locall autozone. It is worth the $15. I would think that you could buy a small kit with all those sockets there as well. I don't believe they would not be exspensive. David.

Good Morning

Yea, I agree with the fuel filters. I just went thru this with my 02 Silverado. The fuel pump finally gave out because I was too stupid to change the fuel filter. It will clog and you`re ok when you are calling for normal fuel flow. When you accelerate it requires increased volume and cannot push that much thru the filter. If I would have used my head I could have saved myself about $900 bucks (tow, etc.) Fuel filters are cheap and easy.

Well, it ended up being a T-55 sized Torx socket. I'm not a fan of Chiltons; I've had a few of them over the last 3 decades, and they can be fairly generic. Besides, brakes on Chevys are easy to do, I just don't have that much experience with Torx bolts. Wonder what was wrong with Hex ?

It's all back together and works great now.

Oil filter adapter by danno4

I have a 1995 Silverado ext cab, 5.7 liter 4x4. I was told that the oil filter adapter was leaking and needed to be replaced. I guess this adapter makes it easier to get the filter on and off. How hard is it to replace? The service station wanted about $150 to do it. I think that's a bit of a rip off.

That all depends whether it is the type that is connected to the oil pan or the type screwed onto the old oil filter location.

Okay, now you have forced me to crawl under the truck. I'll get back to on that one.
Thanks

I have a 2004 GMC Sierra 1500 4x4 Crew Cab SLT with about 39K miles (rarely touches a surface other than pavement). Ever since the warranty ran out after 36 months, I've started having issues. I replaced a water pump and a part in the steering column under the dash (known issue that should have been recalled) at 30K miles (a total of about $700) and today an EBCM for the ABS for $1,100 at 39K miles (this seems to be common problem for GM full size SUVs, trucks, as well as other vehicles). I really enjoy driving it and it feels as sturdy as a rock. However, I just don't believe a modern day vehicle that costs as much as it did should have these issues with so few miles. My last truck was a 1989 Toyota that I drove for 11 years and the only non-routine maintenance issue was a radiator after 9 years and 100K miles.

I really would love to trade it for a Toyota Tacoma, but at 14 mpg and $4/gallon gas, it's not worth very much. Though at this rate, I can't keep throwing good money after bad. Definitely the last GM that I will buy.
