Here in AZ I've got one dealer telling me $600 under invoice, then a dealer much closer to my house (like 3 miles away) is at $250 under. I had no idea about this dealer cash. How much is it and where's the proof? The guy with the higher price sounded easier to deal with on the phone, and of course he's closer. I mentioned the lower price at the other dealer and he said they always sneak up on you with add-ons once you get to the dealership, but that maybe he could meet the deal. I've got an e-mail from the lower price dealer saying no add-ons, just price + tax, lic, doc fee & tags. Window tint if I want it. Assuming he meets the $600 under deal, is that even a great price, or just a fair deal? Do both of these guys have room to work still? |

You don't say which Accord you are interested in, obviously hold back on a DX is much less than hold back on a V-6 EX w/leather and NAV. Seems like others folks in AZ have posted that the local dealers do not deal low, so a search and see. Dennis |

I'm in Hackensack, NJ and have been getting quotes from dealers around the area for a Accord LX 4dr Auto Sedan. My lowest quote is $18150. Is this a good price? Also, I was quoted by one dealer for 6% sales tax, $250 for Motor vehicle, $189 for documentation, $189 Window itching, Tire maintanace $7.50. Anyone purchase recently from this area or receive quotes different from mine? Is this a good quote, or should I be pushing for a lower price? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Replying to: bluewolf (May 20, 2005 1:18 pm) I took delivery of my 2005 Accord Sedan LX I-4 Automatic Transmission on 3/12/05. I used Open Road Honda's Internet quote price as my bargaining point and a local dealer (Dobbs Honda) in Arizona matched the price. The selling price of the vehicle was: $17,585 + 515 (destination) That was $934 under invoice!!! Total = $18,100 + TTL. (doc fee was a whopping $249 +$362 DMV reg fees and $5 for the tire disposal fee) The dealer included pin stripe, splash/mud guards and wheel locks at no extra charge...usually retails for about $200. Deal went down very smootly, no presure whatsoever from the salesman. Car runs great....BTW, I've got the payments, my wife's enjoying the new ride!!! Good Luck. |

Replying to: bluewolf (May 20, 2005 1:18 pm) I tried to bargain with 3 dealers: Honda Cars of Mesa Showcase Tempe All 3 dealers pump up their profit with a 300$ "doc fee", junk fee. I am going to buy a LX-manual. Mesa was at 17,800-bare no adds Tempe was at 17,800-bare no adds Showcase was at 18,000-adds=tint, paint seal, etc... Those were just first quotes, may have been a couple dollars more to wiggle. However that 300$ "doc fee" quickly recovers their margin as it is a junk fee and nearly all pure profit for the dealer. So I said fugg-it, and started getting quotes from LA. Bam, right off the bat started getting quoted 17,300-no adds for the car with only 45$ "doc fee". So I called back all the AZ dealers and told them my bottom line. They played their little dealer games, but nobody could come close on price. All the dealers pretty much just held thier ground and said have fun in Cali. So on the 27th I will be off to LA-Cali to buy my car for $800 less than I could have bought here. Only draw back is I will burn my free tank of gas on the ride home, LOL... Spirit Honda in El Monte will deal you a LX-auto for 18,169. Everyone who has dealt with Spirit on these boards has raving reviews about their pricing and buying experience, open honest and pleasurable. |
