Hi, I am a new buyer and live in North Carolina, Charlotte. Recently I want to buy the Accord LX 4 AT, but I don't what is the suitable price. I found this forum and thnk it is a wonderful place. So does anybody can tell me what is a good price and recommend some good dealer in NC? Any suggestion will be very welcome! regards

Replying to: prince2100 (May 18, 2005 8:14 pm) Try OpenRoad or Jersey Honda (same company, I think). Don't call up and say you want to lease, just get a bottom line price on the car - then do the lease deal. Also try carsdirect.com and put in your ZIP code and see what no-haggle price comes up. The promo lease deal calls for the dealer to sell for $600-700 over invoice and for you to pay $1,500 in cap cost reduction. to drive the price down to the net cap cost of $18,222.24 . With the current dealer money you should be able to get to (or close) this price without ANY money out of pocket. Then if you pay the first payment, security, acquisition fee, and tags/taxes at signing your lease WOULD be $199 a month. In NJ I think 6% tax is due on the price of the car, so that would be a lot out of pocket - or the payments would be higher. You negotiate the price of the car just like you are paying cash, then do the lease at the lowest rate. Dennis |

Replying to: welson (May 19, 2005 7:55 am) Don't know of any cheap dealers in Charlotte, but Hennessy in the Atlanta area should do $18,200 or maybe better on this car. Go to carsdirect.com and put in your ZIP code and see what price comes up. Don't forget to check the "auto transmission" box or the price will be too cheap There may be a dealer that works through carsdirect in your area that will give you a nice price without a hassle. Replying to: mldj98 (May 19, 2005 4:19 am) mldj98 If you look at the EPA figures of 24/34 for 4 cyl automatic, and 21/30 for V6 auotmatic, the savings at the pump would be between 13.3% and 14.3%. That helped me to decide to get the 4 cyl. If I lived in a hilly area, or drove with a full load of passengers, I would have purchased the V6. I'm still on my first tank of gas so I'm not sure what kind of gas mileage I'll actually get! Louise |

In fact, we have several members who are car dealers who participate in our discussions. Sometimes, an informed buyer can make the process a lot easier - you start with a realistic sense of what the vehicle is selling for rather than a fantasy. Anderson Honda Internet Manager reply, ... to my Price Matching question was not preceded with a very, ... very, ... very long pause! He without any fore thought said they did. He didn't even bat an eye when I handed him the printed email Dealer's Quote!!! So they're aware of this form of consumer information sharing. It's just unfortunate some Regions and States are different to what we're experiencing here in California. Thinking back to 1993 when we purchased our 1993 Honda Accord LX 5-sp MT sedan, ...all we had was Car & Driver, Road&Track, Consumer's Guide magazines and Kelly's Blue Book to make car purchasing decisions. We spent many an evening(s) in our local Library reading over the various car reviews, their recommendations and looking for the MFG. Invoice INFO. We're in the age of instant communication using the internet and as I said before, THANK YOU = Edmunds.com sponsored and other Honda Accord Forums, for hosting consumer information like this, ... reading about other consumer's buying experiences and researching cars vs. price vs. invoice, ... is much easier. Replying to: piturra (May 19, 2005 8:20 am) I know these go back way before I purchased my first new car in 1979 and I have been using these ever since and only stopped buying them when Edmund's, KBB, and others starting giving the info away for "Free" online. Finding dealer incentives was a lot harder back then, though. At one time I had a collection of Pace price guides going back several years in my office. I used to help friends and family find good prices and make deals using them, so I would buy new issues even if I was not in the market myself. Having this info instantly available online is heaven now, and as Kirstie said does help the dealers somewhat. I hear folks say "I will walk in on the last day of the month and offer them $25k out the door for that car" when that is a totally unrealistic number given incentives, hold back, and dealer invoice. It really helps pre-burst the trade in bubble by looking up values online as well. On an Accord note, the $600 incentive became $750 and is now $900 (all are up-to numbers). I wonder if Honda has FINALLY sold enough Accords to stop the incentives? The promo lease runs through July 7 now, so "odds are" they will have some dealer money for June too.... Dennis

Hey guys, first post to the forum. I've been shopping dealers all week and drove off last nite w/ an 05 EX-V6 w/ XM - silver/black leather. I got tint, mudguards, rear wing spoiler out the door car price of 23752 doc of 299 and w/ all ttl i drove off the lot paying 26460 w/ 3K down walked w/ exacltly a 430.00 month payment. I set all of this up through the web using edmonds and requested in email form the best price each dealer would give me and then took that around to all the others in my area before deciding on the dealer and the best price. Is $23,752 w. tint/mud guards/spoiler a good buy on the car? This website kicks butt!!!

Replying to: mldj98 (May 19, 2005 4:19 am) I'd bet that many purchasers of V6 Accords never bothered to test-drive a 4 because they remembered the noisy, slow buzz boxes of the 1970s and early '80s and ignored all 4 cylinder cars. Well, the Accord 4 is smoother than some other manufacturers' V6s and accelerates as well as some V6s, too. The Accord V6 is a great engine, but unnecessary IMO. Another advantage of the 4 is that it uses a timing chain instead of a belt that requires changing. The 4 is lighter in the front and might handle slightly better, too. The money you save will buy you a new iMac  . If you aren't hauling a trailer or loading the car full of heavy passengers and luggage all the time, the 4 is MORE than adequate. Try it and see. With respect to gas mileage, there isn't much difference--only 2 or 3 MPG in most cases. My '03 EX-L A/T sedan gets 22.6 in the city, 33.2 on the highway, and average mileage for me has been 24 to 27 MPG in the San Francisco area............Richard |

The two library's we visited (Mountain View and Sunnyvale, CA) each had a complete Auto REFERENCE section, so everything was right their. Matter-a-fact, ... I remember reading Edmunds Car Buying Guide Magazines also!!! By the way, ... THANKS for ALL YOUR POSTS Dennis including updating the Accord incentives! When I frist started reading this "Honda Accord: Prices Paid & Buying Experience" section (Aug. 29th), it was evident that I should go back and REAR ALL YOUR POSTS!!! Your posts have been the most INFORMATIVE Guide in this Forum and it changed my mind that $600 under MFG Invoice (quoted a week before by our Credit Union Car Buying rep - she helped us get our 2004 Pilot w/NAV $1,010 under MSRP last Aug/Nov 2004) was about the best we can save!!!
