Replying to: piturra (May 07, 2005 6:10 am) FYI: I've heard shady stories from my Credit Union Rep and others about AutoWest Honda in Fremont. Congrats on your new ride. I got a quote of $21,086 (including destination plus $45 for documentation) from AutoWest for the EXL-4I AT or $21,131 before TTL. This is the lowest offer so far, even lower than Anderson. You comment made me a little concerned. What kinds of shady stories do you hear about AutoWest? Could you also elaborate on your comment, ...you'd probably use AutoWest Honda's quote to get another $100 off Anderson Honda in Palo Alto like I did! Does Anderson guarantee to match or beat any offers by $100? Did you have to show the internet quote? Thanks.

I am planning on paying "cash" on the last day of May for a brand new Accord EXV6 Sedan WITHOUT the navigation system. I'm in Austin, TX so car tax is 6.25%. I know the Doc. Fee is on $50. Then there is Title and Lisence Fees of around $180. My question is, do you think I could offer the dealership $24,700 Out The Door Price for the car? I have NO trade-in either. Some say that's not enough, others think I could offer even less. Some opions would be great! Thanks so much.

Replying to: austin78704 (May 18, 2005 7:13 am) I would hunt around the area for a dealer that deals low all the time and go ahead and get the car. I would doubt that a dealer that is a lot higher is going to go that low - even on the last day of the month. Right now, carsdirect.com for the ATL shows $23,613 for this car. This is $1,100 under invoice, which seems to be a nice deal (yes, and the dealer even makes a profit depending on the incentive they have earned). In your state with tax and stuff this would be $25,319 or so to you. So your idea of $24,700 seems like cutting a little too close to the bone for most dealers to accept. I bet Holmes Honda over in Shreveport (for example) would make you a better deal today than any of the local dealers would make you at month's end. Dennis |

Just let us know how it went, ... if you end up dealing with them. Anderson Honda Anderson Honda called me first (Internet Manager) and my quote over the phone was $21,786 + fees, ... so I immediately asked him after he was done talking, ... if he priced matched? Well, ... he did! It was as easy as that! At this point, I didn't know about their LOW PRICE GUARANTEE. He asked if he could sent me an official email and told me that since his spreadsheet is a template, it will still read $21,786 + fees, but price matching would not be a problem. Cool, they will price match, His template is as follows: Subject: Your Personal AndersonDirect Quote Selling Price $21,786.00 Tire Fee $8.75 Doc. Fee $45.00 Sales Tax 8.25% $1,801.06 DMV (Estimate) $203.00 Total $23,843.81 Right above the spreadsheet template is where I read the following ... "We have a LOW PRICE GUARANTEE. If you are offered a lower price in writing or email from a different Northern California Honda dealer, we will BEAT the price by $100." After I received two more quotes from Capitol and Stevens Creek Honda, ... I made an appointment with Anderson to look at the colors again in the daylight (wife pre-requisite) and test drive a 4cyl AT EXL sedan. To get the price match + $100, all I had to do is confirmed my lower quote by bringing a copy of that lower email Dealer Quote when I visited them. I also emailed AutoWest to identify what the 'fees' were since they didn't spell out what the fees were in the 1st email. I had that but forgot to make a copy of it, ... so I showed the Anderson Internet Manager that AutoWest email from my Email InBox, using their computer. Done, my price was $20,986 + fees = $22,961.81 OTD!!! Now, I don't know if they will do that again, but it sure doesn't hurt to try!?! Phil
