I got this qoute from Carey Paul in Snellville, GA. I'm still waiting for a few other dealers to send quotes to me, I haven't received Hennessy Honda's yet.

It appears that Honda Finance wants a large down payment to honor the 1.9% financing even for someone with very good credit? Also, does anyone think they will extend the low interest financing?

Hey Clovisguy, I'm not so sure about the large down, because we got approved for $27K at that rate. I think your credit score may count more towards the rate you get, than the down payment.

Washgrover,

I did mean $13,508 and it did include the destination fee. That is the price I paid for an 04 DX manual transmission three weeks ago, before the AC and TTL was added. Not sure if the price you were originally quoted was for an 05 or 04...Oh and one more thing... Ourisman Honda threw in mud guards, wheel locks, door trim and tire well trim with the package for no charge....Didn't even ask for any of it and I got it free! All part of what they call their "Appearance Package."

I saw that you can get pre approved financing by Honda Financial Services online before you even go in the dealership. Has anyone done this? And if so do you recommend it?

I'm already getting pre approved at my credit union, but the 1.9% would beat there rate.

We went online to get preapproval with HFS, but I would definitely recommend against it. It was a waste of time. HFS just tells you whether or not you are approved for a loan, but does NOT reveal the interest rate. When we took the preapproval certificate to the dealer, they ran a separate credit check anyway, which clearly showed as a separate inquiry on our credit report. (Remember, too many inquiries in a short period of time hurts your credit score). The dealer also initially tried to tell us we could only get 3.9% financing, until we threatened to leave without the car and reminded him that we were putting down a very large down payment. We eventually got the 1.9% deal without a fantastic credit score.

Any comments on Carsdirect.com? by gkjeung

I was wondering if anyone has any experience with Carsdirect.com. I'm interested in the Accord EX. I live in the San Francisco Bay Area. The Invoice price with Automatic transmission, PZEV, and Destination is $21,258. Carsdirect.com list a below-invoice price of $20,508. Is carsdirect.com reliable? Is there a lot of hassle buying through them? Any comments or advice about carsdirect.com would be much appreciated. Thanks.

CarsDirect.com works by knowing which dealer in your area has the lowest internet prices. CarsDirect sources the car through that dealer and tacks on a $400-500 profit for themselves. There is no hassle, nor any obligation either.

When I bought my car a month ago, I was easily able to find the lowest price in the area (later confirmed by CarsDriect.com as the dealer they work with here) and buy from that dealer myself saving $500.

If you're unsure, find the lowest price you can and then see what CarsDirect can do.

I agree 100% with odyssey.

My one complaint about the Honda sales process was that the dealer wasn't able to pull up my online credit application from HFS, even with the pre-approval certificate in hand. We had to fill out a complete credit application at the dealer all over again anyway. Why? I guess they needed a signature but they didn't have a way to print out the online information so that I could sign it!

As odyssey said, it's a waste of time until Honda improves their system.
