Oh well. Live and learn. I'm just blessed to have a new car. That was the only dealer in my area that had a 2004 LX AT Accord. Another reason why I was winging it. Guess I could have posted here before I went to the dealer. Thanks for the info.

Without side and side-curtain airbags, the 2004 Accord received a rating of "Poor" in the IIHS's side-impact crash test (driver sustained multiple serious head and internal injuries).
For 2005, the Accord now has front, side, and side-curtain airbags standard across the model line (along with variable inflation force, dual-threshold deployment, and out-of-position sensors). With all six airbags, the IIHS rated the Accord "Good" (low risk of injury) in the same severe crash.
Why were you eager to buy a left-over 2004 model without side-curtain airbags?

The 2004 Accord LX has side airbags, just not side-curtain airbags. I was aware that this was the only real difference between the 2004 and 2005 models. I was looking at price. In my investigations of dealerships, I found that generally speaking, 2005 models were $19000. That's $1500 more than the 2004 model (well, for the price I got). I guess I should say, I went in looking for a certified used 2003 Accord that was priced at $16500. So in my mind, I got a deal.

sounds like you got a great deal.....congrats on the new ride......what do you think your best price would've been on a 2005 LX automatic? I'm starting to shop this weekend in S. Florida, and local dealer internet email offers coming in at $18700 ......what do you think a is realistic price to shoot for, considering its a new model?

Please advise of the particulars. I have been quoted $24300 plus tax, tag & docs for a 05-EXV6Auto
I feel there is some more wiggle room. Any suggestions?

My mistake - I thought buyers had to get the 2004 EX to get side airbags.
Most side airbags when used alone are large enough to provide head protection for the driver. Thus, side-curtain airbags hold little advantage for front seat occupants or small children properly seated in the safest rear-center position.
Sounds like you got a deal then.

I recently purchased a 2005 Accord LX. I started shopping several months ago. I was offered 2004 Accords at absolutely smoking prices, but I had to have the side bags and side curtain bags in the 2005. What is an extra $2K when you life is on the line?

2005 EX-L AT price in los angeles

I was quoted $22,000 for an EX-L AT. How does this rate for a first offer?
What is the actual invoice price of this car? Most sites I've seen list $22,047 but I was told $22,697 by a dealer.
And for those who have experienced both, what are the pros/cons of leather over cloth? Thanks.

Puchased a 2005 Accord Sedan LX 4cyl 5spd for 17925 before ttl at John Elway Honda in Westminster, Colorado. This is 300 under invoice and includes a 300 handling fee that they backed out of the price. Out the door was 19100. I used FIGHTINGCHANCE.COM to help me with the purchase. I saved a bundle of money and alot of my time by not having to deal with floor salesman and instead deal with the fleet/sales managers of the dealerships. I would reccomend James Braggs service to anyone wanting to go into a deal with confidence.

Thanks for the tip. We may be driving to MD (from NOVA) if we can't talk a local dealer into a lower price. Ahh one more question. Is the Nav worth the extra money?, kath
