The graphite pearl has the two-tone gray interior. The top part of the dash and the doors is a dark gray/black while the lower part of the dash, the lower part of the doors, and the seats are a light gray. It's this color combo ..

Got my '04 LX Sedan/Auto (NO side airbag) w/ 7yr warranty for 19.5K (Drive-Out) 2004 Honda Accord LX 4dr Sedan (2.4L 4cyl 5A) (NO side airbag) - 7 yr/100K honda care warranty (zero-dollar deductible) - TInted window which I bought last night (9/30) First of all, I would like to thank everybody who had contributed many purchasing experience in this forum. In return I like to do the same thing and hope people can be benefit from mine as well. #################################################THere is my story, this is my second honda I will purchase in my life and I think I could claim I have a bit expeirence of how to deal with the hungry dealers. (sorry, I just speaking from the customer point of view - always try to be a educated customer everyday) I have started doing the pricing research last week since I was told there is a 1K discount going on in the dealership. #################################################[When you are ready] 1) Start the buying process, emailing all the local dealers saying that you are looking. (I sent mine out this tuesday) 2) Replying all the internet department of the local dealers and telling them EXACTLY what car and what other option I want (no more and no less) and how much you are offering to them (again the Drive-Out Price) ((17K-1K) + TTL) + warranty + tint .. the total will be around 20K In my case, I learnt the following from my reasearch - 2004 Honda Accord LX 4dr Sedan (2.4L 4cyl 5A) (NO side airbag) - 1K discount avilable (off the invoice) - the warranty is around 900-1100 - window tint costs around 200 the total will be around 20K David Mcdonald I start the face-face neigatoring process. #################################################[Right before showing up the dealership] Before I go to the dealer, I am telling myself and what my target bottom price is (19.5 is my case) and the "backup" plan (I went to Gillman a day before and the best price they can do is around 20K) Right after I arived, I showed him my checkbook and tell him I am a servous buyer who is ready for the cheapest deal he can offer. After checking the inventory, he showed me what the car availble and I have picked the color (dont really care) and its omemter (very important. mine only has 7). I have noticed they have a lots in stock compared to other local dealerships. I know that I might get a bigger discount (simple supply-demand theory) In the 1st round, I gave him 19.3K (just throwing him a ridicious number IN the 2nd round, I told him I will do 19.5 if they can throw-in mud guard (its invoice around 100) and I am ready to write him a check. he again went back to talk to his manager and he said he can;t do it. then we started BS-ing for next 10 minutes (that is the standard standoff period of negotiation), all the sudden, I offered him I will take it if the final final DOP 19.4K OR [19.5K w/ 1st yr oil change free. (3 coupons around 100)]. Finally, his boss came out and seal the deal with the 2nd option. I know they will take that because those are in non-itemizable in the actual purchase order (std. option and warranty do). so as the tinted window. The rest is just the paper works, one thing I would like to mention is my actual purchase order shows only 2 items (sale price of the car showns (17020) + dest. charge+ TTL ) & warranty (995). (the tint and the oil-change coupons just the off-the-record deals) #################################################[my Afterthought and Tips] 1) Research!!Research!!Reasearch!! (use this forum/list and get the price and general market information....what option you need !?.. what is the bottom price you will 'pull-the-trigger'?!) 2) buy it toward the end of the month(/quarter) (I am the last customer to walk away the dealership this Qtr 3) show them that you are a severious buyer ( I was liternally carrying my checkbook and told the dealer I amready to write a check if "the price is right") 4) always negotiate with Drive-out PRICE OR OUT-THE-DOOR price !!!!!!! (VERY IMPORTANT) always negotiate the Drive-out price (it is waste of time to get a good sale-price for the car and realize the option is expensive later on; I got scammed by the Other dealership (in Gillman) finance dude who gave me a 1.4K for the warrarnty day before ################################################# Again Thanks to Edmunds and all involved in this list. --cn "Always try to be an educated customer everyday!!" |

One dealership in the New York City area gave me this quote on a brand new '05 Accord, EX with leather, 4 dr, 4 cyl, automatic, desert mist metallic color, no other options, no extended warranty. I would be buying, not leasing (and paying in full at time of purchase). Price is $400 invoice which comes out to $23,096 (no freight charge). Tax is: $1992.03 DMV fees are: $45 Doc fee, $10 Inspection, $12.50 tire tax, and about $25 to register with plates from my old car. Grand Total: ~ $25, 155.53 Can anyone please help me out with their opinion on this offer, should I take it, or is there better?

Replying to: beatlefred (Oct 01, 2004 1:20 pm) That was in San Francisco which is another very expensive place to buy just about everything. If the dealer is well regarded and convenient, you should probably take that deal if it seems that the dealer really won't go lower. It's a fair price for a great car and if it's the model and color that you want, why split hairs for what will likely be a very small dollar amount?.....Richard |
