Accord LX AT w/Airbags - Stupid Dealer Story by sandiego_guy

A while ago, I posted my "deal", $17,900 for an LX sedan w/AT&Airbags from Family Honda in Orange County, CA. I was recently reviewing the paperwork on this car, and I noticed that this car came from Hoehn Honda in Carlsbad, California in San Diego county, where I live. Apparently, this car was shipped from Hoehn to Family Honda, specifically to sell to me (it was in my requested Graphite Pearl Color). The really funny thing about this deal was that I took the original test drive for this car, and was "sold" on this car at Hoehn Honda and I spent nearly an hour at the dealership attempting to buy this car. Hoehn Honda would not go below $19k, which they claimed to be invoice price, and they allowed me to walk from the deal. Now I find out that one week after I walked out of Hoehn, they shipped the car to an Orange County dealer 60 miles away specifically so that dealer could sell me the car for over $1k less!! How stupid is that! Hoehn and I could have both saved a lot of time and energy if they had just sold me the car at the price that I ultimately purchased the car for.

Hi NYCA . . . Looks like dealers do have incentives going on and I guess they will last till the end of July (to get rid of the 2004s). I was just quoted $21,358 plus Tax & Lic for EX-L 4cycl. and thats well below invoice; so dealers do want to deal. One dealer I spoke to last night said they are only expecting 1 more allocation of cars before the 2005s come in (probably these come around mid-July to finish out the model year). Happy Hunting . . .

Edge,
Was the local dealer who made you the deal among those whom you used the email blast? Did you spend a lot of time on the email blast thing? How many round of bids before the final one? I will try to use the same technique to buy a EX V6 SD in about half a month.
Thanks to you and music boy for the info.

I just received two quotes from local dealers. One is $23,333 and includes cargo tray protection, mud flaps and locking lug nuts. The other quote was $24,334 and I haven't talk to them about if there is anything else to the deal. I've requested quotes from two other dealers in the area.

For what it's worth, the dealer that quoted $23,333 said Honda is taking $1000 off this model and $500 off the four door version. Also said the quote was good through the July 4th for sure and they expect to hear Monday if it will be extended beyond that.

AccordLover: Take the best quote you have, even if it's not from the local dealer, and bring it to the local dealer. My best was from a dealer an hour and a half away, and my local dealer, 5 minutes from my office, came close to matching it.

Raptor: $23,333? That's about a grand less than what I paid, and mine didn't have the cargo tray protection. Go for it.

I recieved quotes of 22,800 and 23.200 on na EX V6 coupe 6 speed or automatic. I just bought the 6 speed 23,500 higher then other quotes, but the dealer was giving me 2k more for my trade then anyone else. Funny money but I'm a happy camper, I paid off my previous car and financed the accord for 60 months 3.9%

I pick it up this afternoon

They offered me Honda Care 7yr/100k for 732.00

$23,333 for a V6-6spd? Grab it before they change their minds!

In May I paid $22325 OTD (incl 7% tax -- 20319 before TTL) for an i4 5-spd EX-L coupe, so that looks like a fantastic price for the 6-spd.
