When I purchased a car from Virginia, while living in Maryland. I paid only Virginia taxes and the dealer arranged for my Maryland tags. |

I finally made my purchase thos past weekend, and I wanted to thank all of you guys for your help in helping me secure what I believe is a great price. I used the email method, and sent to all dealers in the Chicago area. I ended up driving nearly an hour away from home, but it was worth it for the deal I got. So here are my details: Silver EX V-6 w/Nav 24,700 (including dest), final out the door of 26,767. No trade. Thanks again to everyone for all of your help. My only regret was letting my dad talk me into tacking on the warranty

Replying to: jruff (May 11, 2004 6:53 am) I have some questions: 1. Which dealer did you buy the car from? 2. Does the OTD price 26,767 include the warranty? Thanks for sharing your experience!

| We are looking around for the best deal on an accord EX w/ leather, 4 cylinder/automatic;and were quoted by a dealer for $22,461; less 400. dealer discount; less partial holdback fees to a tune of 21,650 not including tax, lisence/ destination charge. We are in the S.F area.Anyone have an idea if this is a good deal? Should we wait til the closeouts for 2004? Seems we have read you may be able to get under invoice on the closeouts................please help........... | |

Replying to: jackpo (May 10, 2004 6:40 pm) Many states and/or localities (mine does) have a law that if your vehicle is "garaged" in their jurisdiction for more than 30 days then you must title and register your car at that residence. I would check with the local MVA in MD or by searching their web site at http://www.mva.state.md.us/ for the correct answer. I live in VA and purchased my vehicle in MD in January. I only paid the VA tax which is 3% instead of MD's 5%. I was required to obtain a MD Temp tag (good for 60 days) from the dealer for $15 in order to drive off the lot. My guess is that you will only have to pay one time. I would guess that MD's rate is lower than NY and would be to your advantage to tag & title it there anyway. However I think the general threshold to be in the location that you originally titled and registered the new vehicle is 6 months (although it probably varys according to jurisdiction.) Usually after that time period you can move to another state and reregister the car without paying "sales tax" again. |

| I just purchased a new Silver EX, V6 with Nav for 24,700 ( I believe this is about 800 less invoice ). It is important to note that I had a trade, but negotiated my buy price before introducing the trade. In addition, I purchased the Honda 7 Year/100K extended warranty ( zero deductible ) and also a spoiler ( smaller, subtle one ). I paid $1425 for these two options. All in all, we are happy with the deal and my wife is loving her new accord. | |
I just bought a 2004 EX V-6 MT w/Nav for $25,868 OTD. It did sustain some hail damage, however, as part of the purchase agreement, the hail damage will be repaired at their expense, other that, the car is brand new. Best price i've seen on here so far

Hi everyone, Thanks in advance for any insight/advice you may offer. I've done all my research and am ready to try to buy a EX-V6 (withOUT the NAV). No add-ons required. Here's my thinking: Invoice - $23,754 Holdback - (792) (3% of MSRP) Cash Rebate - (400) (references around internet) Dealer Cost - $22,562 Reasonable Profit for Dealer (3%) - 677 Destination Charge - 490 Offer to Dealer = $23,729 How's the logic? Any suggestions? I was thinking we'd start at $23,500 and cap at $24,000. This will be a cash deal - does that change anything? THANKS SO MUCH!!!!!

Replying to: hgf (May 13, 2004 4:43 am) hgf> at $23,500 and cap at $24,000. You need to determine what the rumored current "Marketing Support" is. I don't know it myself. As I wrote in a previous message on this board, if you are in current negotiations with a dealer (or plan to be soon) then it's perfectly reasonable to call one or two up (ask for an Internet department salesman) and ask them if Honda is currently offering Manufacturer to Dealer Cash and in what amount. Then you will know if your assumption is correct and can make the proper calculation of true dealer cost. As for figuring in a reasonable dealer profit, why not let them watch out for their own interests and you watch out for yours (in other words from your perspective $0 is the correct figure for reasonable dealer profit, they may even agree with you depending on how motivated they are at the time, they may even sell at a loss.) No sense in bidding against yourself by offering a number. In any event you may find it easier to negotiate without ever leaving your home by asking the area dealers to bid for your business via Fax and/or email. You'll likely uncover the lowest rock bottom price available in your area this way as well, I have written extensively about how I did this back in January. Go back on this board starting with mid February reading forward and you will see the method in detail. hgf> This will be a cash deal - does that change anything? Not really, They are gonna get cash from either you or whoever finances you. |
