kloda,

We went through the same thing your going through back in December 2003. It was first very difficult for dealerships to come down to the invoice pricing, especially since we live in NYC. It's amazing how much these vehicles are in demand. We actually placed a deposit for an Accord with Hillside Honda in Queens, NY. They could not get the vehicle as promised with the low mileage, they were actually going to drive the vehicle down from another dealership from upstate NY and that would make it have over 100 miles on it. This was not acceptable, (especially since the color was graphite, not our first color choice). Luckily, the salesmen conducted a search of the entire NYS and there were only two dealerships that had what we wanted, one was in Kingston, NY and the other was in Brewster, NY. Kingston's vehicle already had over 100 miles on it. We ended up going with Brewster Honda, in which we were treated like royal and they were very honest. Here is what we got:

2004 Accord EX V6 w/Nav Redondo Red, this color combination with Navigation for some reason is extremely difficult to find. So far I have not seen one on the road that has the Nav V6,etc like ours. Mostly they are either LX V6 or 4 cylinders or EX V6 w/o Nav. The vehicle is beautiful in and out. Here was our deal which included destination, we paid for mudguards and wheel looks which brought the price up $250.00 from invoice. Total before TTL $25,750.00.

Good Luck in your venture, if you are willing to go to Brewster NY, I will be happy to provide you with a contact, he was great.

Interesting thing I found out. Comparison between 2000 accord and 2004 accord. Buying a 2000 accord EX-L coupe V-6 for 13,500 and selling it for 6500 in 4 years compared to paying 24K for a new 2004 accord ex coupe v-6 and driving it for 4 years selling for 15K the cost per mile on new is .39 and used is .31 .

only about 25% savings. Doesnt seem worth it, does it?

Under your scenario, yes, but there are many other variables to consider.

For example, you are likely to have more maintenance issues with a car driven during years 4 through 8 than during 0 through 4.

And, aside from cost, you also won't have up to date safety features. That being said, good used is always cheaper than new. Just isn't as much fun

extended warranty refund by aspesisteve

I wish I could remember the name of the warranty company I dealt with, but after buying a used Audi tt, with a $2,000 refundable (and transferable) warranty, I was able to cash it in for a FULL refund! All I had to do was pay $50 to have it transferred into my name and then cash it in before the original manufacturers warranty expired.

I couldn't believe the guy before me paid that much.

I tried to replicate this deal with Capital Honda but they said you didn't get an auto dimming mirror or rear deck lid for the price your quoted. Who should I belive?

On carsdirect.com, the price they give me is now $200 less than it was last week. You may want to check this out.

2004 Honda Accord 2dr Coupe 3.0 EX w/Auto/Leather/XM

CarsDirect price (ZIP 47909):
was $24133
now $23933

Under the incentives/rebates listing, it says this has special pricing that expires on 05/31/04. Any idea what this is?

But none of those rates show up on Honda's website. Nor do the dealer rebats that everyone has been talking about.

If the rebates are out there, why doesn't Honda advertise them like everyone else does? I can't watch tv or listen to the radio for fifteen minutes without hearing about gm's truck-a-thon or something of the like.

What gives?
