Had the same happen to me at a Dodge dealership 15 years ago. They told me they found my color and it would take three days for transportation. Got a call the next day that my car was ready. Went to pick it up after work with bank check in hand and noticed my new caravan had 500+ miles showing. Dealer told me he had sent his bud out on a car swap which required he drive mine back. I was a little pissed that my "NEW" car was somewhat used. I left and refused to sign receipt of purchase doc.. The next morning I called the bank loan lady and she told me that my loan was for a new car and I was in a position to break the contract. I returned to the dealer thinking he would rework the deal but he refused telling me I had a contract on the table. I inturn told him no deal according to my loan lady. He said he would see me in court...of course he never did! I later found out that the States don't have a key number of miles determining new from used when the car does not have it's first title. In Canada, if you have over 25 KM's on the odometer, it becomes a used automobile.
New is new...unless you give the dealer the OK to drive the thing from dealer to dealer, versusf a flat bed style ride.

Are you sure about the 25? It's kind of too low. This can be possible if they don't let people test drive the cars and only use one car for test drive.

From what I understand, it is new until it is registered, then it is used.

But yea, I'd be miffed at 500+ miles too! Even though in the larger picture 500 miles is a drop in the bucket, we put that on our new car in a week.

This Canada 25 KM's was in the early 90's, maybe changed now. I agree that 500 miles is a drop in the bucket, but the dealer I was working with even refused to push the warranty out by 500 miles.
I figure you address it with the buyer prior to making the move!

Just bought a Black on Black 2010 Honda Accord Coupe. EX-L V6
55 years old and never bought a new car. One thing though helped a lot. Get a Carmax offer to buy!!! They matched it. Before I got that They offered $2000 LESS!!
I have never found a dealer who will let me walk to "sell my car and come back" after a few hours of haggling and negotiation on the new car

Paid $28200 plus $300 sales tax (capped at$300 in SC) and $119 fees. Experience was easy and professional. Classy organization.
East Coast Honda of Myrtle Beach was a fantastic place to do business.Highly recommended. Like anything homework makes things easier. I had no issue paying $1200 over invoice, Bought an EW from Saccucci. F&I guy was using desperation scare tactics to sell me a $1500 warranty. Bought 84/80 Honda Care for $655.

Honda is disallowing all online warranty sales after Nov 1!! I worry more about motors and electronics than powertrain. Don;t normally buy these things but 4 years wrap for $655 no deductible is reasonable.

Could I have purchased the car for $500 over invoice? Probably. But My sales guy was good and the dealership was reasonable and deserved the $500 premium. I also paid them $200 for window tinting the car. .

I wanted the deal done as painlessly as possible. Could I have held out for $250 bucks? Maybe. But to me it wasn't worth it.

Where are you located, jb? What kind of deals are they offering in your area for 2010's? In my area there are LOTS of 2009's left. To me, around $29K for a loaded 2010 EX-L V6navi is a good deal.

Sorry if I don't share what appears to be your desire to squeeze the last drop out of the orange.

Hell I paid well over invoice. The dealership makes the hold back but the sales guys get paid on the profit. When you get a good sales guy. it's worth rewarding them and its nice to walk into the dealership and not be viewed as the grinding cheap bastard.

I don't believe in squeezing the last drop either, I could have held out and paid $500 over invoice. I am sure they would have sold me the car. I did not like the FI guy and bought the EW online (84/80k Honda care) for $655. He was way to pushy, pulled typical scare tactics and lied...So no bones for him...

The dealership is not going to do a deal if they are not going to make some money.

Don't you kind of feel like they squeezed every last drop out of you, for paying too much? I'd rather be the cheap bastard then the sucker who paid too much....

Not trying to be mean, but....
