You may want to see the tag #22921, your quote is very similar, I think it's a good price for EX-L, although somebody still think that's not low enough.

Using the techniques described on this message board, I emailed and called 5 honda dealers in central NJ. My best online quote for ex-l 4 cyl was 22,525. Following up with a phone call brought that down to 22,350. I also had the $500 off best negotiated price coupon emailed to me from Honda (I am a 2002 Honda accord owner now...apparently registering for Owner's Link online was the key to the coupon) so that dropped it to 21,850.

I also found the documentation fee for these 5 dealers ranged from 197 to 389.

What's the story with the window etching? they were majorly pushing it and I've never heard of it?

I was going to use Bank of America too this month for 4.89% plus $200 fee to setup. However, I have switched to Capital One Auto Finance. They have no fees and 4.68%.

The 3.99% mentioned sounds even better. ...are there any fees?

It was Hendrick Honda in Woodbridge VA, just south of DC. I called and asked for the Internet Salesperson, told her about the deal that I had seen from someone on this board who had just bought from them (within the previous week), and they matched it. I didn't have to bring in a coupon or fill out a rebate, even though she "applied" both to my base price. I went over the numbers with her several times, and I made her promise that none of the numbers would be different when I got to the dealership (another dealer had warned me that this price was to good to be true, and that they would try to change something on me at the last minute).

When I arrived at Hendrick, they had me listed on their appointment list, and told me that someone else would be "taking care of me today." The dollar numbers he had were exactly the ones I had discussed with the first girl on the phone, and the ones that appeared on the paperwork. If he had had the right color in his lot, we would have been in and out of there in about two hours, but he had to run to Tysons to get the car from another dealer, so that added another 90 minutes to the process.

All in all, a good experience, except that when I came back a couple days later (they kept the car in order in install the side molding) I had to keep an eye out for some details, like getting the entire "dealer appearance package", getting a fulll tank of gas, having the car washed before actually taking delivery. That added another 90 minutes to that second visit to pick up the car. I complained (gently) about it when they did the customer satisfaction follow-up call and the manager gave me a free oil change and wash for my troubles, which I thought was fair.

Hendrick's price was about $1000 less than the next best price quote I had gotten, and I called about 6-8 other dealers in the DC area. But that was two months ago... Maybe the deals are better now... now that another 1.2 million people have lost their jobs since then.

Maybe you should ask the dude (ibuyhondaonly?) who told me I paid too much, and that he got such a better deal for the same car, where he got his in DC, cuz apparently they're giving them away!

On another note - Accord sedan 4cyl auto MPG: I calculated MPG on a couple hundred mile road trip a couple weekends ago. At 75 mph on cruise control, I got about 25 mpg. Maybe a little higher since maybe 15% of that tank was 65mpg and a little city/suburban driving. That's compared to the stated highway fuel efficiency of 30mpg, which I think is mostly at around 55mph. Kinda interesting.

Can't exactly say I'm an experienced car buyer, but Google "window etching" and one of the suggestions in "window etching scam". Sounds the latest variation on the "undercoating" they used to push.
