Also ... don't get suckered by other fees like 'Dealer Prep' ...It takes a guy who makes $15/hr a few hours to unwrap and clean the car. Numbers to compart are as follows: Invoice + Destination + Doc Fee *There should be no other fees" Sales Tax, Tags, Title are fixed by your state/city and dmv ... these will differ for OTD. |

Therefore, instead of leaving to the initial dealership, I went into the 2nd cheapest one, knowing i have another alternative if they try to play games. Overall, i would say that the email method works like a charm and that you just need to watch out for dishonest dealers that try to get you to come in and play games and the ones that increase their price after they think they successfully got you to come in |

If you are shopping for others break down the price if you want to.... since 99.999 percent of posters in here shop for their ownself the best way is OTD.

Replying to: szer (Dec 01, 2008 7:40 pm) I shopped for a few weeks before completing the sale of my old car. In the two hours following the sale of my car, I had three dealers on the net and one on the phone all bidding for my business. Went with the guy 20 minutes away as opposed to 1:45. I was negotiating OTD with all of them. And I really mean OTD ... I told them I did not care what the numbers were above the total line but that it had to include tax, title, registration, tags, processing and anything else they could invent. I quoted them my final price and got what I was looking for. |
