I drove off the lot of Miller Honda in Van Nuys, CA last night in a black on black 2008 Accord EX-L 4cyl w/Navi, wheel locks, cargo tray and mud flaps with only 8 miles on it for $27,850 OTD.
I did all negotiations via e-mail so i just walked in, signed the papers, paid for the car and then bailed.
Hope that helps you determine how much you should be paying.

Congrats on the new car.
It actually helps people more when you tell them the selling price of the car. OTD is not a useful number since it has variables particular to your location like taxes and plates.

Good point, $25,805 was the price with delivery charges but pre-tax and plates.
#21382 of 32216 Manufacturer to Dealer Cash???
Jul 25, 2008 (3:57 pm)
I'm looking through today's ads and I see this.
'08 Accord LX-P 4DR Auto Trans. MSRP $22,795 (Looks like car + $635 dest.)
But they have three different LX-P cars and respective sale prices listed below:
The invoice ($20,085) + destination ($635) = $20,720
According to this they potentially are losing money. I understand they have a 2% hold back, but why advertise so low. Also, I see the same thing for their Civics which are supposedly flying off the lots and therefore don't/shouldn't require selling at invoice or below.
Just makes me question if Honda is giving the dealer any incentives.

AWESOME CAR! Just got it tinted (medium) today, man, it looks NICE! I had an Infinity G35 in 2004, Acura RL 2006, I am glad to trade down cuz of Ga$ prices. No regrets at all. The thing I missed was the Bose stereo, keyless starter and Homelink system. Other than that this car is solid. Hope I don't get the rattles like most folks on this forum. BTW just order the deck lid spoiler on Ebay. Mystic Green!

I am thinking about trading down next month when my G35 lease is up to a EX-L V6 Sedan or Coupe. The two things I am going to miss the most are the keyless start and the growl of the exhaust when you start the G. Having to take a key out of my pocket to open or start a car is going to be a real bummer. I'm worried about locking my keys in my car since a G won't let you.
#21386 of 32216 Ridiculous Dealer Add Ons
Jul 25, 2008 (8:29 pm)
I took a walk through a Honda dealership this morning to see the 08 Accords up close and personal for the first time. Coming from an Infiniti I was flabbergasted to see the dealer add on sticker which had $1900 dollars in items:
and one or two other items I can't remember
Question to you all. There is no way I am paying for an alarm and Auto Butler, but how successful has everyone been at negotiating the other items' price down or having them pulled from the car.?
#21387 of 32216 Are these good offers?
Jul 25, 2008 (9:20 pm)
I have been offered the following by a dealer. Does this sound fair to you all?
Accord EX-L V6 Auto - No Nav - Add Auto Dimming Mirror
$25612 - base price
$ 350 - transfer charge (color of my choice no where nearby)
$ 400 - dealer fee
$ 385 - add auto dimming mirror
$ 1655 - tax
$ 110 - title / tag transfer
$28511 - out the door
Accord EX-L V6 Auto - with Nav - Add Auto Dimming Mirror
$30647 - out the door
I know the dealer fee, the transfer charge and part of the auto dimming mirror are mostly profit for the dealer, but overall, is this a fair offer from the dealer?

$1900 sure sounds like there's a lot of profit in that. One of the other items may have been pinstriping. It's cheap to do and most dealers try to charge a lot for it.
Prices below are for the parts only from College Hills Honda (a dealer well known for selling parts at a discount on the Internet).
Alarm - 3rd party? I wouldn't even want it in a new Honda! - $???
Auto Butler - maybe this is the Remote Start accessory??? $372.00
Splash guards - $72.00
Wheel locks - $35.00
Trunk tray - $97.20
and one or two other items I can't remember - $???
I came up with $876.20 (assuming the Auto Butler is actually the remote start system). Not sure where the other $1000 comes from. Cheap 3rd party alarms are $150. Expensive ones with remote start included are under $600...
Sounds like a rip-off. That sticker even being on the window would probably push me to another dealer right there... If they're the only dealers around just tell them you don't want any of that stuff and see what they say...
