It sounds like the one I saw at Stevens Creek a couple of weekends ago. If it is the same one, it seemed well taken care of and sharp looking, of course I am biased towards black/ivory Accords! Just consider the milage in the final cost, accessories are not more than $200 (splash guard, wheel locks, trunk tray), and yes, dump those chromw wheels for $3000!, Good luck.

A "demo" is a car either used by a dealer, returned by a customer because financing fell thru or some other reason,,,although legaly it may not be a used car in reality it is and with 4500 miles it should honestly be sold at a used car price. The price OTD should be lower than the invoice.

Is it new or used? I bought a used 2007 EX-L 4 cyl AT with Navi and a ceiling mounted TV/DVD player last week for $18,400. It has 19K miles on it. The dealer quoted me Capital One for 5 years at 5.29%. New or 2007 used same rate.

According to salesmen & reports, dealers make more profits on used cars than new cars.

This is true! maybe they should title that "demo" car and sell it used to make more money than currently offered "new" demoed car.

You bet. The first owner of my Accord (if she got a good deal) paid about $25,000 for it. She owned in 10 months and traded it in on a SUV. I bought it for $18,400. That means the dealer probably gave her $17,000 for it on trade and added her upside down difference to the SUV. Of course, he probably played with the numbers to "show" that he was giving her $23,000 for the trade by taking money off the SUV and adding it to the trade. That made her feel better about it. Then he sells me the used Accord and makes $1700 more plus interest if I finance with them.

Bottomline: Dealers make lots of money on trades when people do not do their research and/or are in the rutt over a new purchase and make a hasty choice. Want to avoid it? Sell your car and go the dealer with cash.

One dealer prosposed $7,500 to pay for my '02 Accord V6 EX 61K miles that I have bought it at $25.5K at Dec.2001 and "pampered" it like a baby. I told him "forget it". Then, he asked me if he "can earn his business with me on a top new '08 Accord V6 at MSRP. I ignored him and bought my '08 at other dealer.

am i missing something here? i received an internet quote for a 2008 EX-L accord (in RI) that was for the invoice(23,428) plus the destination charge(635) for a total of 24,063. this seems pretty reasonable. are there hidden costs that i am missing? can i get a better deal?

thanks.

I picked up my NEW 2008 Accord EX-L V6 this past Thursday. Paid $25615 which is dealer invoice plus $635 destination. I also got the extended warranty for 8 years 120,000 miles with zero deductible. At first the dealer said the price for this was $1995. But I had an ace in the hole. I had done my homework and found over the INTERNET a Honda Dealer in R.I. who was selling HONDA CARE WARRANTS apparently at his cost. For the 8 year 120,000 mile zero deductible his price was $995. For the same with $100 deductible it was $895.

When I told the sales person (actually the finance guy) that I could get the warranty for $995 he asked to see the printout. Upon reading it he said "IF YOU CANE GET IT FOR $995 BUY IT, SINCE MY COST is $995." I then asked him for his bottom price which came down a whole lot to $1095 or $100 more then the dealer in R.I. So for the convenience of dealing immediately and locally I went for the $1095. Just goes to show how important it is to do your homework before you go out to buy your car.

He also mentioned LO-JACK. He mentioned that the ACCORD was the most stolen car in the USA and I suspect that in large urban areas such as NYC your odds of having you car stolen, especially if you park it on a public street are very high in favor of having it stolen. If I were you I would get the LO-JACK.

I think the cost was a one time payment of about $1400.

The two factors of Accord being the most stolen car plus living in a big urban area where your car is probably going to be parked on a public street would be enough for me to get LO-JACK.

I live in a suburban area about 25 miles north-east of Baltimore and my car is parked in my garage at night. So I don't think LO-JACK is all that important for me. Also I rarely drive into Baltimore and when I do I park in an enclosed guarded garage.

BTW in other messages about the 2008 V6 there was several complaints about surging or unusual engine oscillations. I test drove the V6 prior to ordering a V6 and never noticed any problems. The engine is very smooth. Also my V6 with only about 100 miles on it also has not have any surging problems.
