">my wife wanted the cool blue metallic Accord SE 4 AT and we picked it up on 7/9. The dealer Honda of Slidell (LA) had to get it from Alabama. No trade in, price 20,400 delivered and total otd price 21,792. We may have been able to get better price but we were in a bind since my wife's car was totaled recently(she had 95 Accord EX)She is happy with her car and got the color she wanted but I was suprised that the color was so hard to find. I financed with my bank & the F&I guy was pissed. Good experience overall though.

Although I can't find any info on incentives, McDavid Honda has a special lease with a $2500.00 capital reduction on the EXL-V6--I suspect that's available for sales too somehow. Just speculating based on this model selling for 2500 under invoice according to some posters,

I tried to get lower price and could have done much better if I bought one off of their lot. I wanted to get my wife what she wanted (color was high on her list) The car also had pinstripping and splash guards and we were in Louisiana and the car was located in Alabama.

dcdriver4 -

RE: "just got a LX i4 AT for 16763 plus freight, TTL and $49 for paperwork. Might have done better, but my time has a value and this deal was really easy."

Was the dealer in NoVA? $49 for paperwork? I don't think there's any dealer in NoVA that has a processing fee of $49 since most of them are usually from $289 up to $499. Kudos to you for getting them to agree to a proc. fee of just $49! Maryland dealers, on the other hand, are capped at $100 per state law.

You did great on that price. From what I understand, the MSRP is $20,925 (for an 5AT) not including freight and other fees, so that's $4,162 below MSRP, and $2,206 below Edmund's reported invoice (not including freight and any other fees, etc.).

Congratulations!

Regards,
David

David, the dealer was in Silver Spring, MD, Sport Honda. I was surprised they did not charge the legal max.

This was the best internet quote I got. I did not take their quote ande shop it to others. After all, it is an easy game to say "match others" but also a pretty cheap one. No, the other dealers had their chance and did not take it.

Could I have saved another few bills? Maybe, maybe not, but it would have been at the risk of hassle and disappointment. So I saved a good part of my Saturday and took the best deal offered, which I thought was decent.

Dealer experience was very good, too. A little sell on the extended warranty, but not too hard. It's funny: the reason I bought an Accord was to do without maintenance and repair hassles. Why would I then want the extended warranty?

Congratulations on your purchase. You got a reasonably good price in my opinion.

BTW, I completely agree with your philosophy of rewarding dealers who provide a consumer friendly quote to begin with rather than playing this game of call us back for the real quote so that we have a shot at stealing business from the someone who gave you a better quote.

Sorry to hear about the title mess up on your VW.

Enjoy your new car!

We are having some issue with the dealer right now. I'll post the information once it get resolved.

And they were not the only dealer that accepted this price, so you can probabally ask around and find an even better deal.
