It would be more interesting to see if that dealer would sell it for that price without requiring you to buy all the high margin fluff.
Obviously, if what you were saying about the Hondacare service contract were true, and a high percentage of buyers had covered claims higher than the amount of their paid premium, the program wouldn't have a valid business plan.
The chances of the nav system working fine for 3 years, then failing during years 4-7 are very slim. At the rate of current improvement, in 4 years cell-phone based nav systems will have the features of a 2007 Accord anyway and you'll be able to buy one for less than the cost an updated map DVD on a 4 year old Accord. A2DP stereo Bluetooth is a very slick way to integrate a cell phone-based nav system and music player into car stereos without wires.

Leather and paint protectant?
I bet the "damage repair" is subject to lots of caveats, weasel-out interpretations and discretion of the company.

Hi -

(I wrote a long reply to your previous post - then lost it in the great ethernet in the sky somewhere!)

Now that you've actually signed papers it looks like you're committed to the 9% Toyota financing unless you come up with something else. I think I'd try these guys first in attempting to get a better rate: http://www.capitalone.com/autoloans/index.php

Good luck . . . and hey, enjoy your new car!

They didn't REQUIRE me to buy any of the optional equipment. Your labeling the options as "high margin fluff" is just being unkind. I like it, I can afford it, but you are welcome to purchase your vehicle without the "high margin fluff" and that will be fine with me. But it's my turn to bet that a lot more people will be admiring my wheels over your "Plain Jane".
Obviously you consider yourself to have all the answers about the Honda Care Service Contract, thank you for sharing your thoughts.
Slim or not, nav systems can and do fail. You are free to take the chance and gamble that you're NOT going be the who has the unfortunate experience of having an expensive electronic or mechanical failure. Do I really need to mention that the extended eight year warranty covers substantially more than JUST the navigational system? I just used that as an example!
I'm sure that in four years there will be a lot of technical improvements but I'm not in the process of buying a new car four years from now, so I could care less. As for Bluetooth, I have no desire or use for it.
The Honda Navigational system includes a comprehensive voice command prompt system which operates the radio, A/C, DVD, information center as well as the Navigation system itself. Have fun with your cell phone four years from now! It will be interesting to watch you squinting to read the map and turns on your postage stamp sized cell phone screen while driving with one hand on the wheel. I doubt that your cell phone will be able to voice operate the vehicles audio and A/C controls.
If you would actually take the time to READ the paint and leather protectant warranty certificates you would find that you lost your bet! This is not the "The chances are" or "I'll bet" forum! I'll be looking forward to your "price paid and buying experience" which is what this forum is all about. When the time actually arrives for you to buy your next Honda, it would be interesting to see if, in the end, you include any "high margin fluff" for yourself

Yes, if you show up with a check within the time limit he'll tear up the Toyota finance contract. You can get a loan from a local bank or on the internet - please do check out that Capital One link I provided. You'll get an answer quickly from them - they'll either send you a check or you'll know you have to find another financing source.

This is absolutely NOT true. As long as your car has less than 6000 miles on it, you can purchase the extended warranty for a "new vehicle". Please check with these folks if you have any questions - they are the ones selling the 7/100000/0 warranty for $755, not $1800 or $1620 or whatever your local dealer is trying to gouge you for. Here's the link:

http://myhondawarranty.com/

There is a FAQ page on their website, and you can also call them with any questions. From reading these forums it's clear that many Honda owners have bought their extended warranty from this company - Saccucci Honda - and saved significant money.

PS: Do not succumb to the pressure (and lies?) of your local dealer. You will save a lot of money buying the warranty online - and it is exactly the same warranty your dealer is trying to sell you for twice the $$. And don't let them tell you if you buy it elsewhere it's not valid at your local dealer - it can be used at any Honda dealer.

Good luck - stay strong.

ballroomdancer: Does your $25,061.76 sale price include the $595 Freight charge and any Doc Fee?

For #3 (Invoice): The $26,627 doesn't include the $595 Freight charge, so if you add those that in, it would be $27,222.

So if your sale price includes the Freight charge, then that said you got it for $2,160 below invoice. WOW!!! Awesome job. I think I only got mine for $1,700 below invoice. CONGRATS on your new car with all the extra bells and whistles. Mine doesn't have those extra stuff, but I love it regardless.

BTW, why would you need a torque wrench if you purchase your Wheel Locks somewhere else?

Cell phone navs exist already and work "ok" now. In 4 years they will be great. You don't need to read the map and turns because they give excellent voice instructions. Telenav allows you to input your addresses by voice already and more features will be available in future versions by the time the factory warranty on an Accord expires.

Controlling the stereo and A/C by voice isn't worth much when you already have steering wheel controls and/or automatic A/C.
It is a gimmick that many Honda owners have posted that they gave up using after the novelty wore off.

jaxs1,

As one who has driven my 2004 Accord with Navigation since December 2003, I cannot agree at all with your "gimmick" position.
The wonderful Honda voice-controlled system is extremely useful. Its most valuable feature is that it keeps your eyes SAFELY on the road and your hands SAFELY on the steering wheel when you input commands. Yes, I already have limited steering wheel controls for the audio system and an automatic climate control system. However, there are MANY more features that can be controlled much more conveniently by voice than by those manual controls.

1½"-screen cellular phone navigation is only useful where your own cellular carrier has coverage, since it works only via cell tower triangulation, not via satellite. If you are in an area not covered by your native cellular carrier (such as in another part of the country) you cannot navigate, even though you may still be able to make roaming phone calls.

7"-screen satellite navigation works EVERYWHERE there is a view of the sky.
