Erie Insurance provides gap insurance, of course you need to be a customer. They are located in PA but do not believe they provide coverage nation wide. You may be stuck with what ever you can get from the dealer. It cost 60 for one year on my sons new Altima. Old Mike

Ok. I drove one home today. I should say that my deal is a little different, there are only a few EX, V6 6Spd W/Navi being produced. Most who want Navi and EX want it to be automatic.

There are only two in florida, and I did verify this. I called two dealers and stumbled on one who had this car in stock (in Orlando 60+ miles away). It was the show room car... I believe they did not think it would sell for sometime because of the trim.

So my deal was, $26,700 plus Tax and Tag.
'06 EX, V6, 6spd W/Navi

I believe I could have gotten it for 100-200 lower if I was willing to be patient, but I new I was going to pay when my mouth said, I'll take it home today if...

So, thanks Blane, I'm happy with my deal. Definately less then I would have paid if I hadn't checked here first.

I live in New Jersey but bought the car EX V6 from Bayridge Honda in Brooklyn NY at 24,568 plus tax title and DMV fee. They charge only 45 for doc fee.
Give them a call. I had a smooth experience buying from them.
And by the way the V6 drives like a dream, I have about 4500 miles in about 4 months since I bought the car and haven't had any complaints. Also getting an average of 25 to 27 (80% highway).

This may be a stupid question, but how can dealers make it only making $200 - $500 per car? It is hard for me to believe they are not making more than this, or getting bonuses for sales numbers or something.

Does this look like a good target price for an '06 V6 EX Sedan with mats and mud guards:

$25,218 (invoice) - $819 (holdback) + $200 (mats & mud guard) + $200 (profit) = $24,799 +TTL

I would love to find a dealer who will give me this car at this price.

What does everyone think about the timing for buying an Accord right now? Are the prices good now, or will there be some incentives coming soon to compete with Toyota (Toyota currently has $1000 rebate and the redesigned camry arrives in March).

I need to buy a car before July and I have it narrowed down to the Accord EX V6, Acura TSX, or '07 Camry XLE V6.

There are many other ways that a dealership makes money other than selling vehicles. 200-500 per vehicle AFTER expenses would be ideal but most consumers do not understand that.
