Trunk volume by vvk

According to Edmunds, trunk volume for E46 is only 11 ft3. According to the owner's manual and some other web sites, the volume is 440l/15.5 ft3. I just converted 440l by hand and came up with 15.54 ft3. That's bigger than both new Camry and Accord. Can this be true? I have always thought that 3-series has pretty small trunk. Can it really be so huge? It does not look that big...

Rims and Tires for 330Ci w Sport Package by mdenero44

I am looking at a CPO 2004 330Ci with the Sport Package. I love ths car! Titanium Silver with black interior/aluminum trim. It has 25K and is in fantastic condition. The price is $29,995.00 The only hang up is the wheels and tires. I think the 68M wheels are gorgeous on this car, but of course with the SP it has the 17X7.5 fronts and 17X8.5 rears with Performance rubber.
  
However, I really want to run good all-seasons instead of performance. Where I live we get enough snow to make performance rubber undriveable, but not enough snow to make going to winter tires worthwhile. My preliminary plan is to buy two more 17X7.5 68M rims and go with 225/45s on all corners. Any ideas on how that might work on the 330Ci with SP? Will it cause any problems with the suspension? I realize the handling won't be the same, but if it goes down to excellent from superb I will be happy. I am sorry if I sound like an idiot, but truth is I am when it comes to these things! Any advise is appreciated.

If you are familiar with how a 3-series handles on all-season tires, and are happy with that, then there is no problem with your plan.
 
Personally, I think there is a big difference in handling between summer and all-season tires, and wouldn't want to make the sacrifice, but that is just me..
 
Also, even if you go with all-seasons, why not just keep the staggered set-up? While it doesn't have any real handling advantage, you already have the wheels and it does give the car a more aggressive look. If your selected tire doesn't come in the 245/40-17 size, you can can substitute 255/40-17 with no problem on the rear.
 
If you do get two more wheels, then you won't have any problems with 225/45-17 all the way around, but the look may be a little jarring at first, if you are used to seeing those fat tires on the back.. Also, if you have a spare, it should also be a front wheel.. You could buy one more front wheel and a steelie for the spare..

Try posting in our BMW 3-Series: 2005 and earlier discussion. There are a lot of folks there who can probably give you some advice.
 
But I have a tip for you ... don't post in all caps. It looks like you are yelling at us, it's hard to read and for that reason a lot of people will just skip it.

Hello fellows, I must begin with by saying that this car is truely awesome!!..
 
My question is, how can one find out wether his car is having a Timing chain or a Timing belt..?? Also when should one think about replacing it (after how many miles).
 
My car's model is : 2001 BMW 325i Preminum package.

I've been jockeying back and forth on an '06 330i "automatic" and an '06 IS 350.
 
Bot some questions on the BMW side of the ledger. I now the car comes with synthetic oil. I also know there are no pre-described oil change intervals....just what the computer designates. Anyone have any experience with the typical oil change intervals via tha computer? Anyone know how those intervals affects long term longevity?
 
Observations.....
 
Saw the discussion on the "run flat" tires. After extensive test driving (some of it very spirited on bad roads), I don't feel they detract from the ride, nor the handling of the 3 Series. Longevity may be a different story.
 
I drove a model with I-Drive. I know this option has been much maligned in the press. But, coming from an Acura TL with Nav, which is generally thought to be one of the best Nav systems out there, I gotta say I prefer the I-Drive. It boots up almost instantaneously (certainly much faster than the Acura). It allows you to view a map, as well as another function (like stereo opreation) simultaneously (one function displayed at a time with the TL). Voice recognition is much better with I-Drive over the TL. And, probably the biggest advantage, you can operate the I-Drive without taking your eyes off the road (TL uses a touch screen....you have to avert your eyes off the road to use it).
 
I don't know how this I-Drive version compares to earlier versions, but I like it. Wasn't thinking of getting the I-Drive option, but am reconsidering.
 
The rest of the car is as good or better than all the trade rags say.
