They obviously want to limit the incentive somehow and this is one way to do it. I don't think you can get them to go down to 24 months but give it a shot. To max the value of the 2 free payments, I shortened the length of the term to the min they would allow which was 36 months and didn't even put down a penny downpayment. They said that if I paid the loan off after 12 payments, that AFS could go after the dealer for the "lost" two payments. In CA, I don't think they can go after the customer for these unless it is explicitly stated in the loan docs. I still have to get my first payment in the mail (dealer said that it should show an automatic credit for the next two months and my first true payment wouldn't be till Sept) and the value of both payments should be around $2,400 in total. Hope this helps. You should get clarity on this in case they have changed it due to people like me. Also, make sure something is amended in the loan docs and clearly states that AFS pays the first two payments so you have proof that the deal was struck. Good luck. Bear

Hi guys, Does anyone know what is the last date of the AFS payments? I know that the Audi summer even ends July 6, 2009 but one of the dealers I talked to said that the AFS ends June 30 and the apr's end on July 6. Any info? ~K

I finally purchased an A4 2.0T Quattro with Prestige and Nav (in California) - ice silver metallic, black interior. Price was 39.5K before the taxes, AFS 2 payments, and the audi care package. Taxes were around 4K+ and the audi care was 740. I want to warn you that the dealer tried to give me the loan 1% higher (2.9%) than what AFS is offering. I noticed that (at that point all the number start to look the same) and pointed it out to him. He said that's what Audi is offering. When I said that I know about AFS offers right now and made some noise, he said that he will put in 1.9%. After that I got the deal done. Be alert guys! Loving every minute in the new car! I felt that it was a good deal. Any comments? ~k

Replying to: krish9 (Jul 01, 2009 1:54 pm) As I repeatedly told my wife, getting the right car was more important than getting a huge discount. We keep our cars for 10-15 years, so saving a few thousand bucks isn't the most important part of the deal. We are ecstatic over our (her) new A4 Quattro. Made us wish the 8 hour drive to the wine country took even longer, and the dogs had tons of room in back with the rear seats folded down. (Funny, but little things, like a huge rear seat pass-through make a more significant difference in our lives than do more obvious things like two-zone climate control or a back-up camera.) Anyway, I'm glad we spent a long time looking for the car that she is going to love for years and years. She has already said that she'd be ready to give her car to me if we had bought the Acura TL or the Lexis i300. It might be a while before she offers this car to me.) I was loving the transmission on the way here. On the highway, it shifts smoothly with no attention needed. On the mountain roads, the Tiptronic makes it as fun to drive as a sports car. The only problem is the smoothness/180mph-speedometer combination. A couple of times I thought that all surrounding traffic was going slow only to look down and realize that we were going 90. I'm going to have to do some research on speeding tickets and see when it's worthwhile to risk it.
