steve_, I might want to mention that in the previews for the cars for the Geneva Auto Show, Christian Wardlaw's little blurb for the 2003 Opel Vectra says the Cadillac Catera was based on the Opel Vectra. That is completely false. The Opel Vectra is the basis for the Saturn L-series, as well as the Saab 9-5. The Opel Omega is the basis for the Catera. I've noticed articles in the past that are inaccurate concerning European cars. Please try to be more accurate.. I wonder how Europeans must feel. |

I think the people that will be laughing are the ones behind the wheel of a Cayenne, looks dont count because some like red and some dont, but the beef does count and the Cayenne does have that, the turbo model can leave most cars sitting behind at the stop ligth (5,6 0 to 60) and when designed it was bench marked against most SUV's for off road capabilities like Jeep, GM, ML and performed as well, the clearance is 8 inches wich is about standart in the industry, since is a brand new design it has the latest in traction control, inter axle differentials locks, pre mapped EC controlled differentials torque to a wheel in anticipation, instead of slip first and react later. 6 spd auto tiptronic with true low range and a towing rate of almost 8,000 lbs put is up there in the top boys territory, for intance an MDX is only rated at 3,500 lbs, in fact the Cayenne could tow a couple of them. The size in the pictures is deceptive, for comparison an MDX has a wheel base of 106 and the Cayenne is at 112. Porsche is not a brand to be taken ligthly, at the track at last count they won more than 33,000 races, more than any other marque, I suspect the same dedication at the SUV business, and no other brand in the world can even touch this feat, a 911awd 1,2 win at Dakar, the only modifications were to raise the clearance, as a matter of fact most SUV makers never had a win there, most never even finish. NEGATIVES; All my coments are based on what I read, the specs look good, on the other hand is a brand new design at a brand new plant so I expect some first batch bugs and no tell what they will be until they acrue some miles and time, I am sure the engineers did all the testing and torture and wear they could think of and then some, but from carefully put togheter prototypes to mass production there is a wide gap, lets see. |

| If these things are already sold out before they even hit the dealers' lots. | |
| (drumroll please), they'd have to put it on the cover of National Geographic! If it were a newborn, I'd diaper it's face! It's a keger...... | |
|
The Porsche Cayenne should be discussed in the SUV section. This vehicle should be a terrific off roader. ps.What is the past tense of to diaper? |
