Can anyone explain why TDA amounts vary? Is it a regional thing or a dealer thing?

Lancaster, PA dealer has a TDA of $962 on a 2008 Sequoia Platinum. Seems higher than any other TDA's that I have heard about.

OK Sticker was 54,295. Using your formula that woudl be an approximate invoice of 48,322. The invoice price they gave me was very close to that at 48,461. As your formula is an approximation, it looks as though I should be at invoice here. My only concern is picking it up before the end of the month (Friday) and come Monday Toyota announcing rebates on this.

Platinum deal by mblack78

I've recently put down a $200.00 deposit (over the phone) on a Platinum that is supposed to be coming to the dealership in mid-March. At the time there wasn't any Platinums in the area. It just happened to be exactly what I wanted. I live in the Midwest and was wondering how close to invoice people were purchasing them in this particular area. It seems like a lot of people are from the NE/SE area. The dealer doesn't seem to want to come off MSRP very much. I figured there would be some incentives by now. They don't seem to be selling a lot in this area. Any thoughts?

It sounds like the offer is at or close to dealer's invoice (within a couple $100 bucks). As noted their offer includes the vehicle, TDA, Financial and destination charge. Sounds like a fair deal.

mblack - I would hold off on that deposit until you've negotiated a fair price. Go back to post #1012 in this forum and follow the steps outlined. I think you'll have offers at or close to the dealer's invoice within 3 days without ever leaving the comfort of your home.

He's right. Just email all dealers close to you. I had some that were insisting on MSRP, some at 500-1000 over invoice and finally got one at invoice. Just be patient and stop bothering with the guys that think they are getting MSRP for this car. With the economy, gas and building inventories, you will find someone that wants to move it off the lot.

OK, got the tissue. It was at tissue as promised. What I did not account for was the $500 TDA charge and a $10.00 gas charge. Tissue showed a MSRP of 54,295 and dealer cost of 48,461. (off course they still have the holdback and WFR but I'm happy...just as long as the rebates don't come out next week!)

Thanks hdfatboy. All of your posts are very helpful. I did as you suggested at the beginning of January. The best offers out there were 2k off MRSP. That's why I was wondering about dealers in my area (St. Louis). I will email again and see how it goes. I'll let you know!

2008 lease question by amheck1

Hey guys,

I dealers around here (SouthEast) now have a lease special - $429/month, 48 months, $2400 down. I assume they are basing that off the MSRP price, right?

I'm not quite as concerned about understanding and messing with all of the lease numbers, residuals, etc. I kinda just want to get to my target price of about $500/month. If I assume they are basing those numbers off MSRP, and I have a dealer saying they will sell for $500 over invoice, there should be some pretty substantial wiggle room on the price/month, lease terms, $$ down, etc, right?

Thanks in advance,
Aaron
