In looking at the Escalade, Denali, QX, the bench was definitely a rarer creature, while Toyota does not even allow you get a bench on the Platinum. I don't get why these large SUVs are so difficult to get the maximized seating arrangements in, especially in the loaded models.

They probably didn't have a design for heating a bench seat and also making the controls accessible. It shouldn't have been an issue as the Denali and Escalade have 2nd row heated bench seats (heated captains chairs are optional) with the controls on the back of the front center console. Since Toyota designed the seat heater controls into the 2nd row console (instead of the front center console) they left themselves with no option for the seat heater controls in the 2nd row since there's no center console with a bench seat. Poor planning if you ask me from an engineering perspective however it probably makes good financial sense if you're only planning to make 10% of your Sequoias in the Platinum edition (about 6000 units annually) which is far less than the volume of the Denali and Escalade which use a similar seat design (with different materials). |

| Good call HD! That is probably exactly what the issue is. You can get the heated bench seat on the QX and I'm 95% sure that the controls for it are on the rear of the front console. Interesting how one subtle design decision can influence some much larger packaging issues! | |

I am looking at a 2008 Sequoia Platinum. From other posts I was expecting the TDA to be around $500. I have a dealer telling me that their TDA is $962. Can someone explain to me why different dealers seem to have a different TDA. Is it based on the area that they are in? I am looking at dealers in eastern PA. Does it change for a vehicle once it has been manufactured? For example, if Toyota launches a massive advertising campaign for the Sequoia does the TDA change for the cars that are on the lot?
