#621 of 2169 vsc track and off lights on

My toyota sequoia 2002 at 37000 miles battery suddenly went dead. Installed new battery and VSC OFF light and VSC TRACK light illuminated. I performed a diagnostic check with code reader and there are no faults noted and the system passed even though the vsc track and off lights are still on.I was wondering if after changing the battery if the VSC needs to be reset? Any ideas would be gladly appreciated.

I have an '02 Sequoia and have been experiencing many of similar problems with my VSC and trac lights going on during "normal" driving conditions. My TRAC lights also go on in the cold/higher altitudes as I have seen others post. This problem was originally diagnosed by Toyota 2 years ago as a Steering Angle Sensor problem, but they said it must just be the computer! I am so frustrated at dealing with this for over two years that I am ready to take Toyota to arbitration. Any help with TSB's and/or other useful websites would be most appreciated. Also, has anyone else taken Toyota to arbitration over similar matters? Please advise. Thanks.

#624 of 2169 "Clicking" Sound From the Dash
by jpompeo

03' Seq Ltd. Whenever I am accelerating between 25 and 40mph, thre is a loud "Click" that comes from the dash. Sounds like an old-style "relay" switch (pitch UP - pitch Down). Only happens once, until I slow to below 25mph, and accelerate again....another "CLICK - click". Anyone else having this problem?
Also - I'm annoyed that the Front map lights don't illuminate when you open the door...just the rear map lights. Dealer says Models without Sunroof have front maplights set to illuminate when doors are opened, but with Sunroof it doesn't work. Can anyone else validate? Thanks.

The clicks are the VSC system doing a self-test.
I had a 2002 w/o sunroof and the map lights did not come on with the doors, only the dome light.
My 2004 has the sunroof and, yes, it is very annoying that the rear ones come on and the front ones don't.

Read the book. Then change the setting.

SadToyotawoner,
Can you be more specific please? What
setting" are you referring to changing? I did read the book and talked to the Dealer, who was no help.
Do you know a fix?

I've been having the same VSC/Trac light problem intermittantly on my 2002 Sequoia for 17 months. The last 6 months, it's been more frequent, and I've been to the dealership 7 or 8 times for repairs. Toyota sent out a service tech to perform their final repair attempt, and the light came on the next day. He tried again, this time replacing the "power brake booster". So far, no light...but we've gone for as many as 17,000 miles at one point with no light after a repair. Six repair attempts in 6 months is too many, so we filed for arbitration. We have our arbitration hearing in two days. Good luck with your truck...and keep good records. Toyota has been trying to settle for the past week, but the terms haven't been acceptable yet. I'm hoping this isn't an issue with the '03's and the '04's, since there's not many alternatives on the market that appeal to me. If we get another Sequoia, I'm keeping iron-clad documentation just in case it's a problem with no solution.

All,
As i had previously posted in this forum, I too had the VSC light issues. After several attempts, mostly dealing with the Speed Sensors in the wheels, they finally replaced the speed control computer. It required a call to their 800 number to open a case, but was quickly addressed once open. So far so good, but I've only got about 7k miles on it.
Also, the clicking is the self diagnostic check for the computer and the interior lighting scheme can be adjusted. I recall reading in the manual how to do it.
