#1662 of 2179 ABS system failure
Jan 21, 2007 (5:56 am)
I have 2003 sequoia with 57K miles. Recently, several dashboard lights lit up & I was diagnosed as having a failed ABS computer. Imagine getting a call from service to say you have a 3 thousand $$ problem. When you buy toyota, you are suppose to have that situation when you mistreat your vehicle ... not the case with me. I am a 2 toyota owner and my confidence in Toyota quality is definitely shaken. My next vehicles will likely not be toyota.

Thanks for the reply. We're now having another similar problem. The other day, my VSC/ABS engaged for no reason. I guess I'm going to have a problem with that now also. I really feel there must be a major electrical/computer problem that is causing the break light, rear window, VSC/ABS problems and whatever new ones lie ahead. Very disappointed in Toyota.

Oh, I just wanted to thank you for posting this! The exact same lights came on last week on our '04 SR5 and I haven't driven it since. My husband is out scraping ice and snow off of the car right now (we haven't used it during the recent bad weather...perfect timing!) so he can tighten the gas cap and unhook the battery for a couple of minutes. My fingers are crossed that this works! Thanks for the suggestion...

I have had this same problem with my 06. What did you do to get it fixed? Has anyone else had this problem? What did you do to fix it?

Help - I have had this problem 3 times with my sequoia and it's in the shop now. They have replaced the computer in the back and it's fine. They have replaced the front computer and 2 weeks later, the lights went on again and I could not drive it forward. The ABS light stayed on and I had it towed there to Toyota in Moline, Illinois. They said this is highly uncommon and they cannot find the problem. It always happens after I have had it in 4 wheel drive the previous day or that day. It's still in warranty for 5000 more miles and then I'm worried. Please let me know what you all have done. I need some help on this one. I don't want to take it back until they have fixed the problem.

To fix the rear window, they replaced the computer and motor for it. For the brake light coming on, I have no answer and it seems neither do they. AS far as the ABS thing though, I found out that there is a Toyota Technical Service Bulliten(TSB) that was issued November 28, 2005 that addresses it somewhat. The TSB is number DL001-05 is titled "Rear Axle Bearing Noise" and applies to the '04 to '06 Sequoia. One of the problems it addresses is "intermittent activation of ABS, VSC, and/or TRAC systems on dry flat pavement while driving. VSC/TRAC light flashes intermittently." This problem is covered under the powetrain wattanty for 60 months or 60,000 miles and if you bring it to toyota, they will fix it. I'm guessing that since your ABS light stayed on, perhaps whatever they fix for the above could help your problem. It's probably worth mentioning to them to check. HOpe this helps.
#1670 of 2179 VSC / TRAC and PBrake Light coming on
Feb 06, 2007 (12:44 pm)
This seems to be weather related but I don't know what might be sticking. First thing in the morning the VSC / TRAC light as well as the parking brake lights come on. Drive it for a while, shut off the truck and start it right back up. VSC / TRAC stay off. Sometimes the brake indicator goes out sometimes it stays on.
Where should I start looking?
#1671 of 2179 2003 Sequoia Water Drip
Feb 06, 2007 (9:12 pm)
I just noticed what looks to be water dripping from what appears to be a connector in the firewall. The connector is inside the engine well, in front of the passenger seat. A picture of this is posted on my website here: http://www.astronomytom.com/toyota.jpg
The car has 49000 miles. This just showed up today. I do plan to take it in for repair, but wonder if it is okay to drive.
