My noise ("coffin creak") was during slow maneuvering of any kind. (while turning the wheel)

The problem i was having, and believe me i'm very happy to say WAS, was more of a creaking noise, sort of like a spring that needs some wd40 would sound like. It did not vibrate, or thump, or anything like that, it was a smooth but disgusting noise from the front. For the little research i did i found that some people were complaining about a clunk noise/vibration that apparently was the struts. Hope this helps.

#3304 of 3321 Problem solved.....again by junpg

Just thought I'd share this with everyone else. I have an '03 Si and I had the front struts and steering rack replaced December last year. The noise went away. I get like a "tok, tok" noise when taking off.

Last month I started getting what many here have described as the creaking coffin noise. I hear the noise whenever I make a slow left turn, usually when pulling in to my garage. Brought it in and this time they replaced the front shocks bearing on the strut assembly. Noise is now gone but I'll see how it goes.

Be happy you're still under warranty. I sold my car as soon as mine was up.

A national news magazine is looking to interview college students who has “pimped” out his/her ride Have you tricked out your car with big rims, outrageous stereos, wild paint jobs, spoilers, ground effects, neon lights, nitrous, the works . Please send an e-mail to ctalatiedmunds.com no later than Friday, June 9, 2006 by 5:00 PM PT/8:00 PM ET containing your daytime contact information and the make and model of the car you’ve “pimped” out.

#3307 of 3321 Strange noise by qnzprodigy

Jun 18, 2006 (4:36 pm)

My 2005 Si has been producing a noise from the left front side area at speeds over 65mph. It sounds like a whistle being blown. You can only hear the noise when all the windows and moonroof are closed. I wanna take it in for service, but I am not sure what to tell them? The sound does not stop even when i get it to higher speeds (100mph +).
Can anyone give me any help in figuring out what is wrong with my car? Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the reply muffin man. No my si is completely stock. It is a irritating problem, that will not go away. Do you think something may be loose?

It sounds like a problem a friend was having with his aftermarket intake. Sort of seems like a longshot, but maybe something punctured your airbox?

If you can regularly re-create the sound yourself, take a technician on a test drive.

I have it too. Check the seal at the top of the driver side window. Mine is torn, which I think causes the whistle noise.
