It's kind of odd because it sounds like you don't like your olds because of the Hvac controls and radio (I replaced my radio).. I think the trunk is fine.. It sounds like your issues are minor at best.....

I bought my 1998 Olds Intrigue GL on September 14, 2001. It had just over 31000 miles on it. It's the Bronze Mist color which is sometimes called Dark Medium Lichen. All I know is it's a different color in nearly every light. It's so cool and such a looker. I'm now in my mid-20s and all my friedns are jealous of her, even one with a convertible! I've got leather, the Bose CD system, and the on steering wheel audio controls. I had an 88 before this and loved the serious engine, and while many other cars may have a similarly snazzy engine, very few have the audio controls which, I must admit, have spoiled me terribly. I'm up to 85000 miles now. I've seen cars in town advertised for sale with 195000 miles on them--that's my goal!

Well I just bought my car about 2-3 weeks ago. Ruby/maroon? in color, Grey interior. Just clicked 59,xxx miles overall great shape. But like others headlight flickering is a big pain and I am actually finding out about that today. I was amazed at how this motor pulls you along. My previous car before this was a eagle talon tsi and that had enough "go fast" goodies to make it quick but this car goes just as good. We just had a baby last december so no more 2 door cars and turbo's and all that stuff. Well, Just thought I'd say hello. Doesn't look like to many people post on here anymore.

I bought my dark blue 2000 GX w gold trim in March of 2003 with only 13,000 miles, and only one previous owner (thanks CARFAX.COM)

I have really enjoyed the car, but it seems like I am always putting money into it, which irritates me. I just took a trip to Charlotte, NC from Cleveland, OH and the car was great, I know it will be better when I put new tires on it tomorrow. The car has about 46k miles on it now.

Hi,

I'm new to this web site. I just Googled "Intrigue owners club" to see what would come up. I was curious to see if the Intrigue had any fans, I just turned 159,000 in my 99 model. It's the best car I've ever had and it handles great on Alaska's icy road conditions, especially with a set of Finnish Nokians on it. I wore those out in three seasons (I'm a commuter, 25k miles a year) and I'm back in a more conventional set of Cooper tires. I think I can take her to 200,000, but will be sorry to see her go.

Hi everybody!
Found this forum to be quite interesting. I have an Oldsmobile Intrigue 2000 GX with just over 100K miles on it. I am very happy with the way the car runs.

I have a question though...A few weeks ago the brake light, the seatbelt light, the battery light and a few others would come on automatically every once in a while. I got an oil change recently and had the mechanic take a look at it...and he said it could be a fault with the wiring or something. Overall I did not find his answer very convincing. Strangely though ....I dont see that problem now. Anybody had any similar experiences???

Bill B from NE FL.
I got my Intrigue(It went over the 100K mile mark a couple of weeks ago) last year. I was originally going to get a Mitsubishi Diamante instead but I got the Intrigue since the M D was already gone by the time I was ready to purchase another vehicle. My Intrigue GLS is Pewter w\ the light tan seats. The 3.5L is engine is excellent. The Bose system is spectacular. The ride is excellent. The sunroof is great(no leaks as of yet). I have encountered 3 problems which I detailed in another post. I hope to hear from y'all as well.

Hi Karen, I'm MattC. and I have a 98 Intrigue. I bought it with 110K miles and now 10K later I heard a heavy tapping noise from the engine and found out that the crankshaft/main bearings/rods are causing this. So far I spent 4500.00 dollars and a new Jasper engine is going to run me about 4300.00 dollars. The car is in decent shape and everything on it works, but I'm leary about dumping that kind of money into it.
Any feedback is appreciated. MattC

The 3.8 in your car is usually very very reliable, with the exception of some had thermostat housing issues, and some crank sensors, but to wear out the crankshaft takes some doing. Anyway, you might be able to get a shop to swap with a junkyard motor (there are lots of 3.8's, look for sister cars like buick, Pontiac Gran Prix, etc ) for less money and maybe, given the reliability of this motor, be about as good as a Jasper for less dough.
