Replying to: bwayn (Sep 03, 2009 6:25 pm) Generally, what I've dealt with in the past is known in the A/C industry as "dirty sock syndrome", and it is a sickening sour odor, that lasts from a few minutes after the A/C is turned on to sometimes continuously. It can simply be treated by spraying the intake air to the A/C coils with a good quality sanitizer made specifically for this. Your Auto Supply store or certainly an Air Conditioning Supply house should have it for about $18- $24 a bottle. Household air sanitizers like Febreeze Airwick, or Lysol have not worked for me in the past. |

I live in upstate NY and I own a 2004 Kia Sedona. Since I have had the car, I have had numerous problems related to the comments contained in this column. The car is currently being repaired for the fifth time this year - this time, it is leaking rear coolant lines being replaced. The problem has existed since it had approx. 50,000 miles on it. I am amazed that Kia Corp. has not recalled the cars to repair these leaking lines, as my mechanic has said they have already made several similar repairs in this area. Prior to this current problem, I experienced loud squealing noises from the engine area on our way to FL. I called the Kia dealers in Daytona and they informed me that they would have to replace the belt and the tension wheel. Since we had no other transportation, we decided to wait until we got back home & have the local garage fix it. We ended up replacing the idle arm and bracket & all belts to the tune of $600. In addition, the car has rusted thru the rocker panel & front hood, which we also had to have repaired at our cost. End point - we put well over $2,000 into this 2004 Kia this year. I sent a letter detailing all of this to our Kia dealer by certified mail, which was returned to me unopened. Any ideas on how I should proceed????

Replying to: windjim20 (Oct 15, 2009 7:40 am) I also have a 2004 KIA SEDONA I have had many problems myself with the A/C  it is not cooling the car and any time I took it to get fixed they told me that they couldn't find anything....which I can't remember how many times I have taken my car in for the same problem but they have no clue and of course now my warranty is out....It makes me so mad that I took it somewhere else and they told me they replaced the H-Block whatever that is but that also didn't fix my problem that was $400 later.... My first KIA I had to Lemonlaw  because there were so many problems....it is really ridiculous...Maybe try to send a letter to HeadQuarters hopefully they can help you that's who I contacted when I lemonlawed my first KIA Good Luck...!!

My warning light is on for the airbag and it doesn't go off. About the same time, the horn quit working. Any connection to the two?

Replying to: mombee (Oct 16, 2009 10:01 pm) For the horn check the fuse panel under the hood and see if you have blown fuse. Unless the steering wheel was taken apart, I can think why the connections would be off for the horn connection. Let us know what you find.
