It may just be a minimum & maximum mileage. You just make a choice on how long

the belt will last. It`s all connected to the warranty. If it breaks, good by engine.
If you have a 02 thru 05 Sedona, check your rear heater hose`s &pipes. They have a rust problem with the metal heater pipes.A fix is under warranty.(just look to the right of the spare tire) Had my sister-in-laws done under warranty. (rust belt states the worst)

This is a know problem for the 2002 Sedonas. Sounds like you need to have your alternator replaced, but I'm surprised you have gotten this long with the orginial. Since there was a TSB bullentin concerning this you may be able to get the dealer to replace with no charge. Note that the new alternator has a bigger pulley which will require a new serpentine belt. If your interested, your dealer can access the below TSB or you can access it via www.kiatechinfo.com

#4547 of 4589 Kia Sedona starter by marriedmanw

Has anyone had to replace a starter on a Kia Sedona? My 02 Sedona currently has 69K miles and is needing a starter replacement. The starter still works but is drawing to much power from the battery when cranking. With the engine off the battery voltage is 12.75v and when you crank the engine the voltage goes down to 5v - 7v. Once the engine is running the battery voltage will go up to 14v which show that the alternator is working.
I just thought that 69K miles was kind of premature for a starter to go out.
If anyone has replaced their starter - did you do it yourself and was it hard to get to? I can't find any information on how to change out the starter.

Thanks

Sounds like a battery going bad. Voltage drop should be just under 10 volts at the battery. You should have the battery & starter checked at your local auto parts store or auto repair shop.(how old is the battery)? Good luck.

My 2002 Sedona has 93000 miles and had the engine light come on with a code PO446. I have reset it but it continues to come on when the computer resets itself. The dealer did a smoke test and found no leaks. There was a service bulletin for a hose that connects to the emissions canister. They relplaced it and sent me on my happy way... until the light came on the next day.

I am in California and I know it is an emissions problem. The smog is due with my registration this month and we cannot find the problem. Any ideas?

In my case, it is the charcoal canister needs replaced which coasts under $100 plus labor.

Hi, I saw your comment about the rear heater lines rusting/rotting. My last estimate for work from the Kia dealer listed this on the recommendation section, that 3 sections (basically the whole rear lines) were rotted. I have a 2002 Sedona, that has 65k miles on it. The dealer said this was NOT covered under warranty. Where did you say the warranty for this was covered and was it based on mileage?? Also FYI for 02 Sedona- I had my 1st alternator replaced at 9500 miles, was covered under warr., then a 2nd at 65k miles for a total of $462. At 58k miles I had the timing belt, + serpentine belts replaced, they said they were badly cracked, for $585. I live in NH and the dealers here keep busy on these vans. Very expensive for maintenance/repairs.
