on our 2002 EX, the parking lights flashed the first time the lock button was pressed. If you press the button a 2nd time within a couple seconds of the first press, the horn makes a quick/quiet 'beep.' This is fairly standard behavior for vehicles when being locked via key fob.

Hey guys, this is a great forum - I REALLY wish I would have looked into it a month ago. I just went over 60k with my 03 EX (at 60,300 actually) and I might be experiencing the alternator issue but I'm not sure.   I've been holding off on getting the 60k service because of the high price of the timing belt - Beaverton Kia (Portland, OR) quoted ~$1,200 total. I'm going to shop around like other people have and try to do better.   For a while now, I've suspected that I need a new battery because it drains quite fast if I listen to the radio with the van off. Is it possible that this is actually an alternator problem and it's not charging the battery all the way when I'm driving? Is there any chance that I can still get the alternator done now that I'm over 60k?

Got t-boned in my '05 Sedona with 35k last week. No injuries to myself or my wife but estimated damage to van is $4800. Right rear quarter panel and sliding door are being replaced. It was drivable but pulling pretty good to the left so some obvious alignment damage.   Any ideas on how much this will effect the value at trade in time?

Replying to: chrisbatto (Apr 25, 2007 11:26 am) Hi Chris,   You'll find the Trans drain plug on the drivers side of the oil pan IMMEDIATELY over the frame!! You only have about 1 1/2 inch clearance and it is a mess unless you fabricate some sort of deflector to send the Trans Fluid to either side of the frame!!   A note of interest - according to Daytona Kia, when they drain the pan, it only takes about 2 qts to refill it. According to them, that is all that is required by Kia to keep your warranty current. I thought that all the fluid hade to be replaced, at least 8 qts. or more. Not so!   Good Luck.   Boxwrench

They said it was because I needed a transmission service. So I paid for that and it did not help. Then they replaced the transmission and called me to pick it up. I get out of the parking lot and it is jerking (hiccuping) again. Never stalls but acts like it is going to. Next trip in I am told that I need a new fuel filter, a fuel injector cleaning. I called my father (ASE Certified Master Mech) and he said it couldn't be fuel filter or injectors if I could do 80 without a problem which I have no problem doing. So I declined and gave up. I did get my fuel injectors cleaned at another place and it did not help (except for my mpg). After 4 months & weeks without a car & fighting with Kia I gave up. Figured it wasn't going to leave me stranded. Drove it for a year like that. Jerking, jumping, acting like it was going to stall (rpm dropped to 0).   I took my van in today for the timing belt and complained again. Ironically, the service advisor says they have encountered it since then and have figured out it is the plentium. It was getting to much air into the engine. So I picked it up tonight and so far no jerking, lunging, hiccuping.   I did tell them it would have been nice if they would have called me when they figured it out, since I was on first name basis with the whole garage and basically spent months there.   So I am not crazy afterall. I just bought a 2005 Sedona, off lease, with only 15K miles on it. We've historically owned Nissan Quests with good results, but looking at 2-3 year old vehicles, the Sedona typically was rated out better, except for mileage, than the Quest was, so we went ahead.   Within days, we had to have the alternator replaced, which was covered under warranty with no issues. We've noticed 3 other things on the vehicle now and I'm wondering if there are historical issues with:   1) noisy AC compressor, only when idling (it hums), when moving its fine 2) absolutely no radio reception 3) my wife seems to feel as the vehicle slows, the vehicle is harder to steer -- not like a complete loss of power, just harder --- I haven't really noticed it   We're wondering if the alternator could have contributed to problems 1&2 (power issues can do WEIRD things).   Any input would be appreciated. In general, I love the feel of this, and it seems roomier, sturdier, and has more amenities than the Quests did. Just hoping this is more adjustment than the beginning of problems.

My twins have successfully placed coins in all three power point on my wife's 2004 Sedona. As you might imagine, none of them work now. I am going to check the fuses today, but I am not expecting success. I would bet that the receptacle got shorted out. Anyone have this happen and are these easy to replace for a novice?
