Starting to look for a AWK V6, would like only air bags, skid control as options. Any thoughts out there on price? I'm very willing to wait for a while.

You may well have to order it. At least in the metro DC area, skid control is only available on the Limited models even though it seems from even Toyota's website that it could be an option on any model. You probably will have to wait for it to be built. Not sure how that pricing would work on the custom order. I had wanted a V6 FWD with side airbags and skid control being my highest priority options. It didn't exist. Could get the side air bags easily but not the skid control. I ended up getting the Limited model for the skid control. Can't say that I am crying the blues about having the Limited model. I had to spend more than I had hoped but it is hard not to be happy about driving this car.

pricing/options for 4x4 6cyc by labgirl

Okay, rethinking a little, I'd probably be happy with a AWD 6 cyl, with air bags and little else - I don't really want a Limited. What sets of options am I likely to find commonly? (In other words, assuming I don't want to custom order, how close to what I want will I find?) I don't want a sunroof. I'm in the Boston area, looking to buy in
June or July probably.

If you are willing to forego the skid control, you should have a lot to choose from that are not Limited. Not sure how they are equipping them. You may be able to view the local dealerships' inventories over the internet. That would give you a really good idea of what combinations are available in your area. You could also request a price quote from several of the dealers in your area through Edmunds.com or KellyBlueBook.com.

Well,I just found Toyota of Nashua's web site which lists available basic configurations for NE. The more basic 4x4 6 which has roof rack, Convenience package, side air bags, heated outside mirrors and appearance package lists at 30,188/27,025 so I'm hoping I can find one like that for around 27,500.

MA Dealers - labgirl by rmui1

You can get good prices from these competing dealers. Maybe at invoice, or a little less if there's factory incentives. You can make offer via internet with them and get good prices with low pressure, but do yourself a favor and don't go to the showrooms until the price is firm unless you enjoy mind wargames. Some of those guys confirm all the bad rap that goes around about car saleman.

They were great to deal with.

I was trading in a 1999 Ford Windstar. They gave me a good deal on it and I paid just below invoice for a 2003 HL with the following options:
Cruise Control
Power Mirrors
Power drivers seat
Heated Mirrors ( they were great this winter )
Roof Rack
Towing Prep Package
Standard CD/Radio w/six speakers
Moonroof
Power door locks
Remote keyless entry
Wired for alarm
Alloy Wheels
Wheel Locks

We also bought the extended warranty 7 years or 72K miles for a one time price of $680.00, well worth it IMHO.

We paid $26,888 with 3.9% financing.

It's a great vehicle. We absolutely love it.

The people at the dealership were very friendly and did not push us, they just let us do our own thing. Very refreshing.

Good Luck in you Quest.

Dealer also threw in free pinstriping as part of a special raffle/promotion. Out the door cost (including tax) comes to $25,092 with 3.9% financing. Would like your thoughts.

This sounds very high, even close to MSRP. When I bought my 4cyl 2WD mid Feb. discounts in MA area was $2.8-4k off MSRP $25,544 vehicles. It sounds like you're doing a special order--side airbags in a 4cyc--maybe that's the reason for the small discount?
